Option to turn off step count (or add "Driving Mode") to avoid erroneous steps/floors

I just got home yesterday from a driving 6 hours in my car and I checked my Fitbit. I was really suprised to see it had given me almost 8,000 steps, 3.24 miles, 134 floors, & way more calories thank I burned while I was sitting in my car.  I looked on the forum to see how to easily delete the steps, miles, floors, and calories so my data would be accurate.  The only way people are fixing it is by manually logging the activity "Automobile or light truck (not a semi) driving" and entering in the duration.  I think that is a cumbersome way to fix the issue everytime I drive because I have to make sure I write down what time I get into and out of my car so I know the start time and duration.  And how does it automatically know the calories burned when everyone burns calories when they are sedentary at different rates.

I think they should add a "Drive Mode" feature that when turned on it won't add steps, distance, floors, & will only add calories burned equal to you sitting in a chair.

You could access the "Drive Mode" either on your Fitbit One or on your phone app to turn it on/off.  If you have a Fitbit One you could press the button till the "Drive Mode" icon appears then hold the button down for 2 seconds to turn it on or off.

On the phone apps you would just go to your device under "Account" and there you could turn it on or off.

You could also have the option to give you an alert when you unlock the phone that reminds you that it is in "Drive Mode" so you don't forget to turn it off when you get to your destination.  It would also be cool if you could use Siri to turn it on by saying "Turn on Fitbit Drive Mode" or "Turn off Fitbit Drive Mode".

Welcome to our frustrations.  These forums are worthless.  You would think as many complaints on this one issue that FitBit would act.  Unfortunately, the requests fall on deaf ears.  No plans to buy another or upgrade to their new C4 until they fix this

I join this group in being frustrated that on more motorcycle trips I have earned 30,000 steps on a 900 mile ride over 15 hours.  There should be an easy fix.  The step count is a lot higher on my Harley than on my Ducati, but they both make the step count useless for the ride day.

As you will have noticed, this matter has been discussed ad nauseum. Over
the years so many customers have asked the ability to delete steps and
coupled with no steps being recorded when an activity such as bike is
selected. Fitbit refuse to address the issue. Like many others, I am
looking to switch to a fitness tracker that does not suffer the same fault.

So is this happening? Submitted 6 years ago and all it says is reviewed by mod.

I just got the versa 2 special a few days ago and I work on my computer. So far in the last 4 days I've accomplished almost 4000 steps by simply sitting in my chair.

The step counter is useless. I got it mainly for the HRM and other features. So a disable option would be great.

Get used to the idea that Fitbit will ignore any requests regarding deleting of steps. This has been asked for so.many times by users but all we get from Fitbit is platitudes and never any change.David

Have it connect to bluetooth in car or on phone, option on device itself to disable elevation count and steps while in car. As well as disable elevation count altogether. Please make these more customizable.

Hi @Boogalingous, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to see a "Driving mode" on Fitbit devices to stop counting steps or floors when driving or riding activities. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.

OMG, you have got to be kidding!  Do you even realize this thread has been going on for over 6 years! And it has taken this long for you to understand a driving mode option.  This is why no one has faith in these "moderated" communities because they serve no purpose to improve product.  Just close out this community board - al of them.  They serve no purpose other than people to ask for the same modifications year after year to no avail.  You are not suitable as a moderator.  And frankly, I am tired of receiving email for years from FB community that are similar in nature and no action has been taken by FB to improve their product via customer requests.

I keep seeing the same thing asked for time and time again.

we do not need a driving mode on the fitbits, what we need is for them to fix the current long outstanding BUG where even at 69mph the stupid algorithm in their devices continues to count steps and floors.

if I am relatively stationary yet moving at over 10mph for example, stop. Other devices manage it, iPhone for one, they should be able to.

ludicrous piece of worthless plastic.  Buy into a different system.

Agree with this. No need for a driving mode so much as ability to just delete steps or stop recording steps. David

I have a versa 2, it would be extremely helpful if I could add driving to my exercise shortcuts to remove the steps riding my motorcycle adds.

Hi @Aaron86, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to see "Driving mode" on Fitbit devices. This feature suggestion already exists, so I’ve moved your post here. While we don’t currently have plans to release this feature, we always appreciate the passion and creativity that comes out of this Community. Since we know this idea is important to many of you, we have left voting open to continue tracking interest and will post another update if anything changes. A simple one click button on the app to record when you start driving and when you finish driving.

You hope you will have an answer to this shortly??? Direct deletion of steps function has been asked for over many years! Just how long does it take for such items to get acted upon? David

This simple suggestion was made EIGHT years ago and thousands of comments later and they still haven’t made a fix for this? It’s 2020, I’m wearing my new Fitbit Charge 4 and it’s doing the same exact thing the original post said. Booo!!!!

And this is why I will not upgrade from a C3 to a C4.  Until these moderators begin submitting these requests to programmers it is not worth the time and effort to type this message.  I won a challenge this week because I was driving my motorcycle. Thanks to the poor performance of the moderators, FitBit provided a cheating opportunity.

I joined this discussion years ago and I am really shocked. Almost every
week I get one or more e-mails with a reply to the topic.

This is really unbelievable! Even Microsoft responds to user feedback better
than Fitbit.

LOL...I returned my fitbit before the return period ended...every week I
get an email about this I laugh some more...laugh at how FitBit is trying
to ensure their product is irrelevant.

I am another user who is shocked that this problem is still very much up to date! I ride my motorcycle at a regular basis, it’s very demotivating to have it making my fitness tracking unusable.

Why haven't you added an option to stop tracking?? Even an OFF button would work.

Extra steps added with driving and other activities make this device less than useful, to say the least.

I'll never buy another Fitbit

Do you have a new device? I have a ~4yr old charge 2 and was going to buy
a 4 until I realized it was still a problem.
