Pokemon Go Adventure Sync Support

Pokemon Go is soon to roll out a feature allowing external apps (namely Apple Health and Google Fit) to track steps and distance without needing to have the Pokemon Go app running.  It would be great if Fitbit's services could be supported as well.  As it stands, Google Fit and Apple Health do not officially work with Fitbit.

Yeah... That's not accurate. You can shake your phone for steps to hatch
eggs in the game

"Hi Trainer,

Thank you for writing in.

The Adventure Sync does not work with wearable devices except Apple watch for Apple. Other than this there are no other supported wearables for Android.

Since this is a new feature that was introduced, we are unable to comment more if the Fitbit will come into action in the future. However, thank you for sharing this with us.

If you are having any other questions, please contact us.

Best regards,

Ronnie"

1 of the main reasons I bought my Ionic is because I wanted to use Adventure Sync at my work since I worked over 10k a day and can't have my phone on me... It sucks that it doesn't work.. Fit to fit transfers the data to google fit, but it sucks big time that it doesn't go into Pokemon Go...

This is an obviously beneficial feature it would clearly boost sales. I currently have a charge 2 and I've been looking at a Versa or an Android smartwatch

I have to join in here. I'm still wearing my original FitBit Alta. I love the tracker and the app, and I have years and years of data built up. And, just like everyone else in this thread, if there isn't a confirmed integration with Pokemon Go by the time this old FitBit finally dies, I'll be forced to abandon the brand. It'll hurt to lose everything I've done with my FitBit, but Pokemon Go is a hard requirement for me now. Please let us know the plan as soon as possible.

Omg please I am an advid player and I work a 9-5 job so if this can sync with my Fitbit Charge 3 or even the Alta HR or any of them really I believe would be an amazing add on! Don’t need the app on the device just the ability to sync with the steps and KM taken!!!

I bought fitbit today for having it count my Pokémon GO steps when I don't have my phone on me. Was baffled to see that it's not possible. I'm considering returning the fitbit and find another activity tracker that works with Pokémon GO 😞 Currently googling all the dark corners of the web to find some hack workaround so I can keep the fitbit, because it's pretty, but so far things look grim.

Thank you for the info MelLovesBrandon, it's consistent with my findings from my frantic web search. Unfortunately a smart watch is out of the question because of the price tag, as well as the fact that they're huge and ugly,  most designed for a look most typically worn by men. Fitbit was my choice because they're slim and come in other colors than black. I'm still on the fence of keeping the fitbit, but I'm leaning towards thinking that it's in both Niantic's and Fitbit's best interest to push for cooperation. Especially since no other activity bands track to Pokémon GO, Fitbit would get a market advantage. I'm definitely not the only one who has scoured the web for an activity band that plays nice with Pokémon GO. Since Niantic discontinued their Go Plus armband and replaced it with a toy ball most adults can't walk around with, users without the means to buy a smart watch are stranded. With that in mind, including Niantic's "We're neither confirming nor denying," and this thread on "under consideration" there actually is a small hope. I'll think it over this weekend before I return the fitbit I bought yesterday.

In May this year it was reported Pokémon GO has 147 million monthly active users. Imagine pushing out a news message when you log into the app that it now supports Fitbit. I don't know what a prime time TV ad costs, but it does feel like in comparison the reach and cost of an ad like that in-app message must be pretty ok. The target group is perfect. Non fitbit users may become interested, and fitbit users may return to Pokémon GO and those sweet micro transactions. Both companies are for sure crunching the numbers as we speak.

Great idea, would certainly get kids moving if it helped with hatching eggs and walking buddy's!

I would love my Fitbit steps to be used in Pokemon Go's Adventure Sync. From what I understand, it looks like Fitbit doesn't want to collaborate with Google or Apple. Regardless of that, it would be really cool for Fitbit to work something out with Niantic directly. It would boost my motivation to get more exercise. It feels unfair that people with an Apple watch have their steps count while mine don't. For Google Fit/Apple Health, I don't carry my phone with me when I'm at home (and most women's clothes do not have pockets!), so I lose of a lot of potential steps in Pokemon Go.

Such a good idea!

Yes yes, a million times yes! Make this a thing!

I've been looking at upgrading my Pebble to a Versa for a couple of months now and if this ends up being released, it will be a definite buy from me!

I second the idea. Especially for kids like mine whose school bans cell phones or even jobs where you can't have your phone with you. It's definitely be worth it to invest in allowing it as more devices will likely be sold due to the amount of pogo players who use Android phones over Apple.

Since Google Fit and Pokemon Go started Adventure Sync, I have gotten a lot more steps towards hatching eggs. The problem is that with Google Fit, you have to have your phone on you at all times.

Having Adventure Sync with my Fitbit Charge 3 would be invaluable and I could uninstall Google Fit!

I 100% agree with this. Originally, I had gotten my fitbit under the impression that it could connect to Google fit, and other fitness devices. I was both surprised, and really disappointed, when it didn't sync with that app. And even more so when I realized that meant pokemon go wouldn't see how much activity I'm actually doing (since I don't carry my phone on me for every gym visit). But in all honesty, the fact that fitbit doesn't work with big name apps such as Google and Apple really surprises me... I hope this will change in the near future.

I was surprised when it didn't sync with Google Fit. Would love for this to be completed 🙂

Any news on this request? Surely FitBit would want in on this... they are losing business to Apple and Google for sure because of this incompatibility.

Am I the only person who has this feature working?

I'm using an IFTTT applet called "Fitbit and iOS Health Sync".
Its a bit slower probably but it does update occasionally.

And for people who don't have an iphone ??? I'm
using the android app Fit to Fitbit (with sync to
Google fit), but it does not sync all my steps.
It counts only the steps made when walking around
with your phone, but no steps when you are walking
around without your smartphone. So I'm missing a
lot of steps daily !

I've been using my Fitbit for quite awhile now and last April (2018) got my first smart phone.  I got my Fitbit to try to encourage myself to exercise more, but haven't been that inspired by it.  The challenges don't do much for me, and most of my friends don't participate or else out-do me by such a large margin it's discouraging.  I got Pokemon Go on my new phone, and find that I really enjoy it.  My workplace has a thriving community of players (you can see them on Discord) and it does encourage me to get up to go catch something I haven't before.  I hate that my only option for Adventure Sync is Google Fit which seems like one of the most useless fitness apps I've seen.  I want to sync it  to my Fitbit because I wear it almost all the time but I don't carry my phone everywhere.  Especially when I'm at home, or at work, I just lay the phone down on a surface and it doesn't track all my housecleaning activity or my sneaker-networking (ie. walking around within my building) with my co-workers.  Since my building is 1/4 of a mile long from end to end, those steps that don't get counted can be a considerable number. Not only that, but Pokemon and Google actually don't do a great job of tracking me since I work in a Federal Government building that makes tracking using geotracking nearly impossible.  You only connect when you're near a window and so I am not tracked much of the time since I work in the deepest part of the building.  This place was built during the cold war so it's bomb proof and pretty much everything else proof. (sigh)  So for my 2cents worth I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see integration between Pokemon Go and Fitbit.  If my workplace is any example a LOT of recently furloughed Feds would also love to see these two programs integrated.
