Possibility for a smaller SURGE model - Surge mini perhaps?

I purchased a Fitbit Surge two weeks ago and was really excited to try it out... until I actually wore it. The Surge is way too big and bulky for me personally. In addition to being visually unappealing, it was also extremely uncomfortable to wear. I can't imagine trying to wear that thing to bed, let alone 24/7 (I never take my Fitbit products off unless I am showering/swimming). I lasted less than one day before I exchanged the Surge and downgraded to a Charge HR, which is still a little uncomfortable but less so.

I want to suggest a product similar to the Surge but with a slightly smaller display. A Surge Mini perhaps? I'd love to use the Surge features (GPS tracking especially) without having a giant brick on my wrist.

I want all the functionality of the surge, especially if its the only product that will soon track cycling. The problem is, it is so large and clumsy on a petite female wrist, its just not practical and looks wierd.

Please can you come up with a smaller / narrower version for us smaller ladies. xx

Hello, I just recently read about the update to the FitBit Surge which allows for tracking while cycling. My boyfriend and myself both love our FitBits dearly, (Flex for myself, ChargeHR for him) and we just got very into cycling! Unforntunately, the FitBits we own now aren't the most ideal for tracking our cycling adventures and we would most definitely purchase the Surge of only it fit small wrists! I'm sure it would look fine on him but I'm speaking out for those who have very tiny wrists so watches/devices with huge faces look very silly on us! All I'm asking is that someone takes into consideration a smaller face/size for smaller wrists.

I have small wrists and although I love the features of the Surge, it's so big and glunky that it makes it uncomfortable to sleep in, not to mention how odd it looks. Please consider making a smaller face/thickness of the Surge for smaller wrists. Will need to return util it has the smaller option.

I have to agree I would have gladly bought the surge but the largeness of it turned me away, Charge HR was perfect fit. I don't think there was a need for its size to be honest

@CattNY - have you tried the Charge HR. Has almost all the features of the Surge that are most useful.

firstly, great product, this has ticked so many boxes, getting me motivated by providing the right stats to help me track progress and set goals. Secondly, it would be great to see a slimmer watch for the next version. You want to wear this all the time, to track activity through the day, so make it a little more like a watch. It catches on sleeves, or knocks against drawers etc because of its bulk. It has survived so far without many scratches and hope it stays that way.

I agree.

I have super small wrists and although the size small wrist strap fits perfectly, the face of the watch overhangs my wrists.

This is particularly true for the Fitbit Charge, ChargeHr and Fitbit Surge.

I love all the features that the Surge offers, but the design of the watch is rather large for a small female wrist.  I would like to have a more female design that also offfers gps.

I had a Charge and twice in the last 6 months had a problem with it. I returned it to REI and was looking at the Surge because of the features. I was told a new smaller Surge would possibly be coming out soon. I think that's a great idea and I'm waiting for it. More color choices and smaller features. Please let me know when it's available.

I purchased the Surge on Friday afternoon (7/17). Was going to take it back on Friday evening due to the size; this could be one of the most uncomfortable and ugly items I have ever attempted to wear on a daily basis. I feel like I am saying "look at me, look at me!! I work out" I would love for it to be all one level of thickness at the face (either all super fat, or all thinner). I have to wear a jacket in my office because they keep it arctic cold, the Surge does not fit comfortably under my sleeve, and becuase of the rubber material it sticks to my sleeves. I had to wear my sleeve above the band, which then caused the band to be pushed further down on my wrist which then put pressure on my wrist bone (not comfortable). It's absurd that with the uneven slope of the face we also have to deal with another bulk of the heart rate moniter. The green lights that are constantaly blinking wake me at night; Because it won't lay flush on my wrist the light comes through the bottom. Another problem I have is that the charge cable has to be plugged in very carefully or it comes disconnected. The physical design of this product is extremely flawed. That being said, at this time I am keeping it, I am still working through the the discomfort of it to see if I can find a way to wear it...why you might ask? I LOVE that I can track my runs, bikes, hikes, and anything else all in one place. I love the silly little fitbit badges, I love that my family and friends and I can compete against each other.  I know that this can be engineered as a more asthetically pleasing and comfortable product  (Garmin has managed).

My suggestions:
1. Make the darn thing water proof, it's absurd that it isn't already

2. Make it all one size in thickness; go thinner

3. Take the "bump" out of the heart rate monitor from the underside
4. Maybe consider making a female and male version? Something a little less wide for the females, but keep the same Small and Large measurements. (keep it all one level of thickenss at the face)
5. change the band design so that when this one breaks (as I'm sure the rubber will do after a few months of wear) we can just replace the band, and not have to replace the entire product.

6. correct the charge cable issue, I am currently charging and had to work on a position for it to sit in for a good 3 mins before the cable would actually stay in the fitbit.

I know your policy is to not accept ideas for new products. However, I am going to suggest one anyway. I currently have a Fitbit One. I have logged over 3 million steps since purchasing it. I am very intrigued by the features of the Surge. Yesterday I stopped at my local Dick's Sporting Goods store and was ready to spend the $250 on the Surge. I asked the clerk if she would let me try one on to make sure the large fit my wrist alright. This is where you lost my $250. I currently wear a Timex Ironman watch. This is a rather large watch, but the Surge was too big for me. Not the device itself, but the band is huge all the way around. I didn't like the looks of it on my arm. Change that....make it look more like a real watch band....and you have my $250. This is not a complaint. Simply a suggestion. Make the change and I won't claim it was my idea and want compensation. Thank you.

The smallest band for the Charge HR currently fits a wrist between 5.4" to 6.2". Unfrotunately, it would need to be about 4" to 4.5" to comfortably fit me, as the length of the face is currently longer than the width of my wrist 😞 It would be great if smaller models are in the making for future release!! I really, really want one; thanks~

The surge is a great product with great features however I feel like I am wearing one of those house arrest ankle bracelets around my wrist. It is so built and huge!

Any plans to come out with a slightly smaller surge? The features are awesome but the screen is bigger than my wrist!

I agree!  I wanted a Surge but it was so huge it looked ridiculous on me!  I want a Surge that has a much smaller face, an all around smaller gadget.  I was all set to spend my money as well but I knew I'd never wear this monstrosity and I don't want the other Fitbits as they don't have all the same features.  I will wait to purchase until Fitbit comes out with a more dainty version (keep the blue, please!) of the Surge....one that is a better size for those of us who are small.

Yes, this! My wrist is thinner than the inflexible computer component of the band, which makes it unwearable!

I have a heart condition called Supraventricular Tachycardia, so I'm always trying to keep track of my heart rate and I really really wanted this product 😞

Hi I would like to see if you could or will be making the surge watch in a smaller size (width) the perfect size would be the Chargers size. Not sure if you can get all that technical stuff in the smaller charger size but I know I and a few other people would buy it in a heartbeat! I would love to replace my watch with a Fitbit watch. In fact I have been waiting to buy a Fitbit hopping you wold come out with one? I asked this question on fb and they orig thought I was talking about the band! I'm talking band and watch! It's just to big all over for me! please tell me you have one coming out for Christmas?? Please??? Thank you Sadie Robinson

I posted to the Fitbit face book page the same question. I got an email with a link to this page to add a comment. I would love to buy a Fitbit but the current surge it just to bulky. I do like the comment that asked for a mini surge ! Could you please email me if this is in the works or when you expect to have an answer on this? It would be great for Christmas gift!! Thanks T

I too have made a couple suggestions on the design on the surge. I'm glad that on of the several others has been reviewed and passed along to the powers that be 🙂

Dear Fitbit
I currently have a charge HR and my partner has a Surge. I am waiting...and waiting...and continue to wait for a smaller version of the surge to come out. The current surge, and now the new Blaze are just way too bulky for a female. Surely you can create one with a smaller watch face to suit your female customers? The one thing missing from the HR which I want is the GPS tracking. Please...please consider this. Surely you have females working on your teams and seriously, I'm of average build and the surge watch face on my wrist is just ridiculously too big!

The new blaze is too large in size for women with smaller wrists. The device looks too big on the model in the advertisement. Can it not be made smaller??? Circular ?

I think this is a wonderful idea!  Perhaps they can come out with a female Surge this year with GPS.  That'll be great.
