Pregnancy setting/mode for more accurate data

Necessary:

Logging a pregnancy is a must, as is the ammenorheic period due to breastfeeding.  These drastically affect predictions making the app useless for many.  Eg. I have entered my data since 2011.  My periods are like clock work occurring every 27 days... but I have had 4 pregnancies in that time so the app is telling me that my peiods average every 104 days.

Useful:

Option to add basal body temp and ovulation data (eg. predictor strip).

I doubt it is ever going to happen. We can add breastfeeding though.

There should be an option in the “Female Health” section that allows you to say you are pregnant to better improve cycle predictions.

Hi @ntship. Thanks for explaining why you'd like to have a pregnancy mode in the Female Health Tracking with us. This idea was already requested in the Feature Suggestions board, so I’ve moved your post here. The status of this request has been updated as "Under Consideration", so don't forget to add your vote to show your support! Yes! This is a necessity! I hope it gets added before I get pregnant (hoping for sometime next year).

Don't Count on it. I 1st started this post 4 years ago when I was
pregnant with my daughter. Now I am pregnant with our son. I'll probably be
a grandmother before it happens.

Is there any sort of timeline for when this could be implemented? I get that it's "under consideration" but it's ridiculous how long this has been requested, needed and ignored. I've been a Fitbit user since the first one came out years ago and my most recent device just bit the dust. I'll most likely be getting something else now unless they come out soon with an implementation or timely plan.

Same! I can barely see the screen on mine due to scratches, so I'm trying
to decide what other brand I should buy that supports women. Fitbit
obviously doesn't.

I'm look for an alternative to the fitbit now because of their inability to
track pregnancy. Why would we not want to stay fit thru pregnancy. Its sad
because so many of us have asked for this for so many years. They could do
better.

My Fitbit is still in great shape, so I'm going to wait it out. This is one of two features that I need in order to stay with Fitbit for my next activity tracker. I may just end up getting a Samsung smartwatch next because my phone is a Samsung. I would get an Ionic if it looked better AND if they add the pregnancy feature. The other feature I want is GPS on the Versa because I HATE bringing my phone when I work out, and I like the way the Versa looks, but not the Ionic.

To be bake to log when you are pregnant and any bleeding experienced within that time. We would also need to be able to end the pregnancy when we choose & update as due days can change.

Able* oops. I just want to explain that having recently miscarried, my period trends section is completely messed up after tracking them for years. It would be a helpful tool in allowing us to see when our bodies are getting back to normal 🙂 I know not everyone who uses the period tracker would want this but people have been asking for years. We wouldn't need you to do what other apps do and give us pregnancy updates, just to be able to track a pregnancy, the same way we do a period.

Hi @Jrob0203x, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to see pregnancy setting/mode for more accurate data. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". You can learn more about it here. I hope to see you around.

It's kind of shocking, actually, that there is no "pregnancy" setting already under the female health tracker.  Aside from all the great comments made by others here about the really useful additional features that could be added (like a breastfeeding setting under activities, additional nutrition tips and guidance for pregnant women, an automatically shifting weight gain per week target for pregnancy, etc.), it is mostly just extremely annoying that I have to manually keep selecting "not yet" over and over again when it prompts me to confirm if my period has started yet.  And I know that, later, this is going to also massively mess with my "average cycle length" as tracked by the app (as was also pointed out by another user).  The female health tracking feature already lets you track ovulation and morning after pill among other things, so why wouldn't it at minimum contain: (a) a "positive pregnancy test" icon which would then tell the app to at least stop pestering you about your period; and (b) an "end of pregnancy" icon to manually stop the pregnancy setting (end of pregnancy could be due to giving birth, or miscarriage, or abortion - the woman user shouldn't have to share the reason with fitbit but in all cases she should be able to "terminate" the pregnancy setting in the app at any time).  It would also be best to have (c) a "postpartum" or "post-pregnancy" setting, since periods don't start immediately back up after any method of pregnancy ending.

@Leanneabanana I completely agree with everything you've said. It all sounds easy enough so its justhjust to believe that it isn't available.

Something that I'd find helpful is also to be able to highlight more than one bleed in a month. I know you can record whether you're spotting, light, heavy etc. but the issue I'm having post miscarriage is having multiple bleeds in a month and only being able to record one as a period...

It's going to take some time for my periods to return to normal but it would be nice if the app highlighted each bleed as properly rather than having to click on the day to read it as a symptom. Seems odd but would just be helpful if all bleeding showed as red in the app screen. It would also be effective postpartum too.

It’s bananas to me that given how long Fitbit has been around, there’s no pregnancy setting. Pregnancy (and after that, breastfeeding for those who do it) have HUGE impacts on a lot of what Fitbits track, so it would be useful to be able to change that setting. The fact that it hasn’t been fully implemented is super sexist.

I am already trying for over 2 years to get them to add the pregnancy
setting back into the app. I was so happy to see the female health tracker
option appearing, but to my dismay it does not have a pregnancy setting in
there.
To me it seems like Fitbit is apparently a male only company that has no
clue how to tackle something like this. I am not a programmer, but if you
can build an app that can distinguish between biking and walking, how
difficult can it be to stop telling you will get your period right now,
until your filled in due date? Thereafter just mention the average time it
will take for your period to return after pregnancy but only activate the
period tracker after the user indicates their first period.
Also how much of an effort would it be upon activation of the pregnancy
mode, just state the average advised weight gain (and stop telling to
loose weight during pregnancy and indicate that it can take an average of
up to 9 months to be back at your pre-pregnancy weight and condition
levels).
It could also mention the WHO food recommendations. As each time I open the
app, it will give some point of advice.
To me this does not sound to difficult and also (since you are based in the
states, and thus can be sued for everything) not to dangerous if you keep
to the official WHO or CDC guidelines of food recommendations/average
weight gain. But no, lets tell the women that they need more backers to
their request before considering it and as soon as they have enough
backers just close the thread.
I had hoped that Google buying them would change this weird attitude of
Fitbit, but apparently not. For me, as soon as this Fitbit dies, it will be
byebye fitbit! I can buy much cheaper trackers that come with rubbish apps.
(And yes this text is fuelled by pregnancy hormones!)

I've used the female health setting to track my cycle for years. I'm now pregnant and am disappointed that there's no setting for this within the app.

Making milk for babies uses calories and I wish there was a way/ even if we had to put in an estimate of how many calories we use (based on how many ounces are produced) a day so our calories intake and burn is calculated correctly.

I just am in disbelief that this is even an issue. And that we actually have to VOTE to have “pregnancy” added to the system. I mean. It’s such a natural state of human development, one which anyone who is interested in tracking other aspects of health, would also want to track closely.  Why has this been a discussion topic for so long, and gone unaddressed? What is the hold up?

The fact that women have been asking for this since 2014 is so freaking sad.  There really needs to be a setting for women when they are pregnant. Fitness is not just loosing weight. It’s keeping your body healthy.  And that is of the utmost importance when pregnant and breastfeeding. I am so disappointed in the fact that Fitbit has not addressed this. Yet women keep asking. If this does not get addressed I will no longer buy or support Fitbit Products in the future.

Preach! My cycle predictions are sooo off because I had a single 450 day
cycle called pregnancy and post-partum. How hard could it be to
purposefully exclude some data to prevent me from being reminded every
month that Fitbit doesn't care about women's opinions?!
mrslkw

It didn't take them this long to get GPS in the Versa, it shouldn't take them this long to add pregnancy settings for the "menstrual health" segment. They should also include amenorrhea due to breastfeeding. We need to take to Twitter and social media and bother Fitbit's MALE CEO James Park. He needs to LISTEN to us. We likely make up about half of his customer base, and we can make that disappear if we try.
