Pregnancy setting/mode for more accurate data

Necessary:

Logging a pregnancy is a must, as is the ammenorheic period due to breastfeeding.  These drastically affect predictions making the app useless for many.  Eg. I have entered my data since 2011.  My periods are like clock work occurring every 27 days... but I have had 4 pregnancies in that time so the app is telling me that my peiods average every 104 days.

Useful:

Option to add basal body temp and ovulation data (eg. predictor strip).

I just got the black friday sale email from Fitbit. It reminded me that now
is a good time to switch to a brand that actually listens to and values
it's female clientele. For those of you who have switched, what are you
using and loving?

The ability to tell the app that you are pregnant and stop enforcing weight goals (this is dangerous).

To avoid messing up any period heuristic data already collected.

To acknowledge the differing nutrition and calorie requirements of pregnancy and breast feeding.

Otherwise it is wasted piece of tech for years at a time.

Hi @FitbitUser1116, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to see Pregnancy settings on Fitbit. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". To learn more about how Fitbit decides which suggestions get developed, visit our FAQs.

I don't understand how changing your status to pregnant hasn't become an option yet. 😩

I haven't been using the period tracking on Fitbit because I've been using Ava for fertility tracking. But now that I'm pregnant, I'd love to be able to use more of my Fitbit features, but it makes no sense if they aren't able to calculate a pregnancy into their figures.

This just seems like a huge percentage of the population that you're not considering when it comes to your app. I imagine there are a lot more pregnant women that own Fitbits that just aren't taking the time to complain about lack of usability like us here. 😂

This is definitely required, how can you expect to have accurate data if you don't include pregnancies and miscarriages. They have a big impact on our cycles and should definitely be included in our tracking data.

This is absurd that this option has still not been added. There absolutely must be a way to indicate when someone is pregnant for this device to be useful. At this point I think the lack of this feature should be posted about on social media and presented to everyone who will listen that these devices should not be purchased and are useless for individuals with childbearing anatomy. Cancel culture seems to be the only thing that works to create change in these types of situations

+1000 it doesn't have to be overly complex but at the minimum allow you to "pause" period tracking while pregnant (as above, maintain historical data on cycles etc) or at least track "pregnant" instead of period.

Women should have the ability to set their tracker to a pregnant status and be able to add specific goals based on pregnancy

This has been suggested 6 years ago and still isn’t available?!? What is taking so long? Old white males in charge if product development??  How did your even miss it in the first place?  This seems like an egregious mistake and short-coming of FitBit Inc.

Make a pregnancy mode update!!

Ok. Like. Just have a setting so that it’s no longer recommending you lose weight  and turn off periods or whatever. Surely. This shouldn’t need over six years to develop.

A nursing woman burns an average of 500 extra calories a day. We need this taken into account for my calorie allowance and daily burned calories. We need a setting that you can turn on in your profile we’re you log your amount of time nursing and the calories burned are accounted for.

For the amount of females who are pregnant whilst using Fitbit it feels slightly dangerous that you can’t log pregnancy on the app. Health stats change and should change as the body adjusts so it’s misleading and could lead to pregnant women making misguided decisions on fitness and nutrition

Once again pregnant woman are consider other, the minority, not part of the "norm". It's so frustrating how we are told in so many ways that our society is not built for women, let alone pregnant women.

Get it together Fitbit and Google. Stop designing just for straight white men. 🙄

Others here, what competitor apps do this better?

We’ve read the FAQ’s on getting attention for a needed pregnancy setting (on off toggle) and a highly requested pregnancy layer that temporarily impacts all features during its duration (modified for nursing mothers). Now we just want the respect.

So really need to add pregnancy. 54% of the planet is female and this "fitness tracker" doesn't have pregnancy available in the FEMALE HEALTH TRACKER FOR MENSTRUAL HEALTH, like are you **ahem**ing kidding me? No way to input a weight gain goal for the time I will be gaining weight due to pregnancy. No pregnancy safe exercises listed. It is almost like this health and wellness app wants to pretend pregnancy doesn't exist or doesn't matter. The fact that there are 1000s of comments on this forum and nothing has been done to address our complaints just show that Fitbit doesn't care about it's female users at all. The period tracker doesn't even let you input when you ovulate if you take an ovulation test but let's you say that you took a test and it is the only part of the app that consistently breaks and becomes unstable for months at a time, if a feature used by the men on this app broke as often as the period tracker did, Fitbit would have fixed it years ago, or would have been run out of business.

I’m so disappointed that I can’t track my pregnancy in Fitbit. Also my heart rate is completely messed up because it is not being calculated properly. It is quite shocking that people is waiting for years to have this option.

The things to be added:

Positive/Negative test (and type I.e. at home test or in clinic)

Pregnancy started

Pregnancy ended

Pregnancy end before estimated gestation end

Reason of Pregnancy end? Termination or miscarriage etc

Gestation duration calculator I.e. UK, France etc

Use of gestation estimate or calculated due date (these two may vary)

Number of babies

Induction date?

Symptoms (Day by day measurement of morning sickness, energy levels, aches, anxiety, mood or bleeding)

Baby movement - yes/no (maybe description box)

Water intake reminder (varies compared to standard water requirement)

Doctor appointments - scans, blood tests, glucose tests or other (retrospective emergency appointments should be possible)

Glucose levels (if required)

Contractions / contraction calculator (alongside corresponding heart rate would be interesting)

Maybe emergency contacts to notify if contractions start early?

Week by week update on gestation week. Perhaps integration with Emma's diary or country specific sites that provide information

Breastfeeding / Pumping

Pumping milk measurement per breast per day or per pump. Time periods would be super useful. With a checkbox marking power pumps

Supplement reminders for Pregnancy or breastfeeding

bmi calculation to consider Pregnancy weight.

Ability to calculate and store the difference in weight since Pregnancy began/ended

Goal setting using the weight gained post pregnancy/breastfeedinf

Perhaps consider inclusion of fertility treatments, duration etc
