I would love to have an auto Lock/Unlock of my smartphone based on proximity.

Thanks, please all vote for this :smileyhappy:

Could you try disabling Background Sync and enabling Call Notifications? I don't lose the connection, I just lose it if I mess with Bluetooth and I turn it off and back on.

That is actually how I used to have it.  I only turned it on when I saw your post.  I have it turned off again now, but still if I go to settings and trusted devices, the Surge has alredy disconnected, with or without the Fitbit app open in the background.

Fitbit support has acknowledged that the Surge has issues with the app, they just aren't sharing any status or updates as to what they have found to be the problem.  Hope this does work for others with the Charge though!

I have the Charge HR, but I guess it's the same for the Charge. You have the Surge though, and it's Fitbit's flagship, so it shouldn't take too long to fix? :S I'm having problems, it's quite on and off, which is disappointing... 😞 I thought everything was working flawless, but not really...

Smart lock is part of the Lollipop and seems to require a Bluetooth Classic device. This works fine. I have the Bluetooth claasic of the Surge set as a trusted device ll I have to do is swipe the phone, no code needed. The Charge and Charge HR doesn't have Classic Bluetooth and I can't get it to work, but they do have a NFC chip in them, just tap the phone against this chip and the phone opens Fitbit and starts a sync. So I set the NFC chips in the Charge and Charge HR, now all I do is tap the phone to my Charge to unlock it. The NFC in the Surge can also be used to unlock your phone. So yes smart unlock works with the three new trackers. My last post I based the answer on the fact that according to the info on smart lock it is independent of the Bluetooth or NFC device used, Considering that your phone is unable to pair with Fitbit by itself this does not surprise me

Mac users would appreciate this feature as well.

I've been using smart lock on Lollipop since the day after it was installed on my Galaxy S5.

I can tap the phone to the Charge HR band, or just have it within the range of the Surge or Blaze.

Hi @Dariodor and commenters, thanks for this suggestion, Adding Fitbit as a trusted device for Smartlock for Android is enabled. You can keep your phone unlocked whenever it's connected to a trusted device, like a Bluetooth watch such as Fitbit. Bluetooth connectivity range can vary. Range depends on factors like your device model, Bluetooth device, and current environment. Bluetooth connectivity can be up to 100 meters.

IveI'been using this since the Charge was released so maybe for the last ? years through multiple versions of the Android OS. This is a function of the OS, not the tracker.

For the Charge I used the NFC .not Bluetooth.

I have a Google Nexus 6P, running Android 8.1 (latest version), and Smart Lock doesn't work with my Charge HR. It didn't work with 8.0, or any version before. Heck, I can't even get Call Notifications to work because the Charge HR doesn't pair. I've tried everything too, see here.
