Register Mileage on Running Shoes

I am an avid runner (30+ miles per week) and Fitbit user for quite some time now.  I use Nike running app in addition to Fitbit GPS only because Fitbit doesn't have an option to add a shoe or shoe mileage logging.  Even if only IN the app, just allow us to add a shoe and link to our runs so we can keep track!!  Can i tell you how annoying it is to log in two apps?  Update this please, FITBIT!

Yes! It would be so helpful to have in the app a way to track shoe wear. We could add shoe description and the start date of use and set a time limit for use and app could send reminder when close to limit date.

I like this idea. I would also like more indepth add ons like for running (like the Garmin watch does ) to track cadence gait, trainer mileage etc and offer improvements for running as well as a walk/run option.  I am considering buying a Garmin but prefer fitbit if it added a foot pod or linked wearable technology to make this happen.

I would love to use Samsung health as I am an acid android believer. I love Fitbit and have owned one since 2014. I don't plan on changing that. I do like what is available in both apps for tracking so many options. I wish they could sync without using A THIRD app, that doesn't even sync everything 😩. Inevitably, I drop Samsung health data entry as its a pain in the but to do entries twice, but I'm considering finding a fitness watch that is more compatible with it as is. I'm sure you don't want to lose customers, but it will happen. I think it would be a good move on your part as this seems to been a bone of contention for many Fitbit users.  I know you can choose to not read these comments and suggestions, but, if you aren't, you are seriously missing out on free information that will eventually increase sales for your product, I'm sure of it. Please rethink your strategy or begin talks with Samsung..... anything!

That’s a great suggestion!

This absolutely has to happen.  Shoes are an investment and keeping up with them properly can help prevent injury.

I agree Gimitch! Adding this option to Fitbit for avid users would be a useful tool to record our precious shoe usage.

Still would like to see this happen!!

Currently the dashboard lets you see all of the miles that you've done on foot - combined walking, running, or hiking.  I'd like to see the total miles run per week, and I wouldn't be surprised if many runners would like to see that.  I walk dogs and walk a lot anyway, but I don't think of that as exercise in the same way I do running.

Please please please let us track miles run (not just steps and total miles) on the app. It’s not that tricky- after you finish a designated run, your device can ask “Would you like to add this to your running mileage?” Or it can be an optional tile on the dashboard- every time you select “run” as an exercise, the app logs your total miles. Other apps (MapMyRun) do it. It would be helpful for shoes, new year’s resolutions (my goal is 1k this year), etc. Miles run per week would be cool too. But seriously, please get this done.

Can you please add in the capability to register your running shoes to track mileage and wear?

The Garmin has the capability, Nike Running App, and I'm sure many other apps/sports wear have this; it's very nice to know how many miles you've put on your shoes, how they are wearing down, and when to replace them.

I didn't know I needed to replace my current running shoes because I had only had them for four months but they were killing my hips when I ran. If we had something to track how the shoes are making your body feel like once a month and then have suggestions of what that could mean I believe would also be helpful.

Hi @SheaKahl, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to see Running Shoes on the Fitbit app. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.

THIS!!!  I have to track my shoe mileage manually at the moment which is very cumbersome.  I am not asking for this to be controlled via device, but entering in your shoes somewhere on the app would be nice.  As well as a way to go into your logged workout and choose your shoes is nice as well.  Look at Map My Run - that is exactly what I would like to see from my FB.

Your competition has the feature to be able to log and see weekly miles only ran. Not total steps. Not total miles. Just miles ran. This seems like a "no brainer" feature for any fitness tracker and I highly suggest it be added very soon before more FitBit users switch to your competitors. Thanks!
