Set lap feature

I would really like to be able to click the button on my Charge 2 to set the beginning of a lap, and press it again to set when that lap is finished. After that, the software automatically counts laps using my phone's GPS.

This would be incredibly useful for walkers and runners.

This is the basic and must function of all running watches. I am very disappointing because charge 2 does not have this function...

I really liked Lap Running Mode on Fitbit Surge. Can this mode be added to Fitbit Ionic?  Ionic does have “Automatic Cues” (aka Splits) which unfortunately start at .5 miles so not helpful for running standard .25 laps. If Lap Running Mode cannot be added to Ionic, can Cue options be expanded to include .25 miles?

In the Fitbit Ionic it's possible to track laps manually. That's fine for running or cycling in circles.

But in the gym I want to get the time of every single exercise. I can use the lap function for this too, but there's a pause after every exercise when I change to the next machine or lesson.

So it will be fine if there's an option for the lap behaviour that after I unpause the timer a new lap will be started automatically. This should be simple to implement.

It's incredible and the height of lazy product design and implementation that one of the most basic functionalities of any stopwatch is not available on the Fitbit. My Timex watch from 20 years ago can track lap split times.

Lap times (basically a split on each kilometre) would be a very welcome inclusion on the Dashboard.  I believe that information is available on the Run tracker immediately after finishing the run, but I rarely manage to catch it in time before it reverts back to the normal operating mode, so it'd be great to be able to go back later and check at my leisure in Dashboard (and see how I'm going over time by comparing different runs).

Hi there, Is there any further development for this feature? As a cricket coach I was looking around to find a sports watch and my wife bought charger 2 as a birthday gift thinking it would solve the purpose. If the lap timer is not one of the features in charger 2 I would be returning this product in next 5 days. Thanks

I love my Ionic but the one thing that I miss from my old Soleus and Timex watches is the lapping capabilities and how it was displayed. I have checked through the available apps in the Fitbit store to see if any of them have the capabilities I desire but none of them really have it right.

What I am looking for is to have the display in Run Mode show me my overall time and my current lap time (that I manually split). This is especially important for me in fartlek workouts since I can't do it with the current way that the mode is set up. I would like to be able to start the "on" portion of my fartlek and split the watch (so that I can have a new counter start) and be able to see how much time I have been running "on" for. Then when I decide that it is time for an "off" portion then I want to be able to split the watch again and have the counter start from zero so that I can see how long I have been on the "off" portion of the fartlek. Ideally the watch would save the lap times that I split so that I can see them at a later time either on the watch or in the app. I also really need this for track workouts since I run varying distances throughout the workout.

Diagram (since that was probably confusing)

25:05.32                          -> This would show the total time

5:10.26              -> This would show my current split (counting up from zero when I press split)

4.50 miles                       -> This would show the distance, HR, steps, whatever

To sum up and try to be clear:

- Split/Lap button (maybe the top right button since it has no purpose unless run is paused)

- Split counts up from zero when I split the watch

- Splits are saved to look at later (in the app or on the watch)

- Ability to display the current lap time and the total run time

- Also it would be cool if there was a counter to see what number lap/split it is

Hopefully that makes at least a little bit of sense. Also, sorry to reference competing brands (you all are better 😉
