Show notification right after buzz on Sense 2/Versa4

Fix the notification user experience back to what was available prior to the Sense 2. Currently when you receive a notification, you get the icon for the notification first, then, while holding your hand up and waiting, 10 to 15 seconds, you final get the text of the notification.

I would like to be able to receive notifications in the versa 3 style.
Example with whatsapp:
Versa 3, screen wakes up and gets message with “*name* and content of the message.
Versa 4 gets notification, screen doesnt wake up, move your watch to receive. Then we Will get message from *name* we have to wait of touch and then we Will the content

What's the progress on this issue? Did any Product Owner take a hint and own the issue with prioritizing it for one of the next releases or should we simply take advice and switch to Garmin like everyone else recommend?

I've modified my view. Initially I was outraged that functionality that I
was used to is missing. But now I get at least part of it. I realize that a
lot of users might be very privacy sensitive. Their concern is when a
notification comes in someone may be able to read it on their wrists say if
they're seated at a big conference table with people nearby. It might be
embarrassing information so I understand they want that to be hidden and
only viewed when they're ready. So I've accepted that much.

One thing that still bothers me is that it's hardly intelligent. For
example, when it sends me an alert and my Sense 2 vibrates and then I lift
my arm and twist my wrist so I can read and nothing appears, then I'm
angry. If it knows that it has a notification and it does know because it
just vibrated the watch, then it should be extra sensitive to me lifting my
arm and twisting my wrist. This shouldn't be a struggle to get the
notification displayed. So much for Google mastery of AI.

The second problem that remains is, for whatever reason, Google insists on
first displaying a preview screen and then the notification appears two to
three seconds later. That's infuriating having to wait, especially
considering that the name of the app is included in the notification. Hey
Google, you don't need to give me a preview if that information is going to
appear in the notification itself. I'm guessing they want us to swipe away
the preview in order to give feedback to the Fitbit that the notification
is being actively read?

@johnmudd with all due respect it seems to me like you are copypasting same message over and over.

And even if we consider this "privacy feature" it should be configurable.

Thanks. I didn't know my replies were piling up. I'll stop.

My versa 2 stopped working out of no where. I broke down & got a versa 4. On the 2 when a msg came in u turned your wrist & could see the msg. On 4 u can't. U have to swipe up to see the msg. Very annoying! Bring back the ability to see the msgs when turning your wrist!!!!

I’ve updated my Fitbit to a versa 4 and I’m really disappointed that I can’t download their party apps. I don’t understand why something is available on the 2nd and 3rd models but not the 4th. I want to connect my watch to my FitOn account and it’s not possible. Are we going to get third-part apps anytime soon, otherwise I’m considering returning my product.

I just “upgraded” from a versa 2 to a sense 2 yesterday. But I’m thinking about a refund just because of this UX issue. I know 7 seconds isn’t that long but it seems like an eternity to be holding my arm up in the air. Why isnt this configurable? 99% of the time I already know what app the notification is coming from. I just want to quickly glance and move on. At that speed it’s faster to pull my phone out and look at the message. Completely defeats the purpose of a smartwatch.

I've just upgraded from V2 to V4.

With my V2, when I received a text/messenger message, I just had to turn my watch on my wrist to look at it and the message would appear (if I looked at my watch at the same time as the vibration was happening)".

With my V4, when I receive a message, my watch vibrates, but nothing appears on the screen automatically. I have to click on my screen or on the button and it's only the message logo that appears, I have to click on it to read the message. It's very disappointing.

With V2, I really appreciated being able to see the message at a glance.

How can I get the same thing on V4? Can't beleive you have downdraged the V$ from the V2 on this features

Yes! Please get rid of the delayed notification and make it usable. If I'd known this before I would not have bought this watch. I'm considering buying a different one since this is the main smartwatch function left on this device and doesn't work efficiently.

Please update!

Is Fitbit going remove the splash screen or give you the option to? Because if they're not I need to return the Sense 2. I work in construction and don't have time to be staring at my watch. I need to see the text message immediately.

Does the Versa 4 have the splash screen? I'm thinking of getting that watch instead.

I just read in comments above that the Versa 4 is no better at displaying text messages immediately. I want a new Fitbit but I can't deal with this splash screen crap. What would people recommend?

Hi @CoreySD885 - did you know Fitbit have a 45 day refund policy or possibly authorised dealers too, some stores provide 14 to 30 day refunds.

A Sense or Versa 3 has a much better notifications display but you might have to get it from a shop.

I never would have bought the sense 2 if I knew notifications were like this. My versa shows them right away. I rely on being able to quickly read them and go back to my activity rather than completely stopping and picking up my phone vs using my smart watch. I honestly don't know why they would change this. Wish more people would vote for this change back. I feel like returning my sense 2 and going back to my versa now

Hi Google friends, please prioritize this feature request on your roadmap! If there's a privacy or other reason to delay a message from showing, then please create a setting to allow for the users who prefer the delay to keep it and the rest of us to turn it off. Thanks!

Totally agree. Notifications should be displayed instantly.
