Support DD/MM date format on Charge 5

The new Charge 5 only has an American date format when set to an English speaking country, despite having an English date format for many non-English speaking countries. Please change the date format for the UK to DD/MM.

Bought mine today in Australia, 1st of May 2022 and then i found this thread...seriously??? They've been being asked since release till now for a DDMM format and just refuse to do it?? I was sure there'd be a setting somewhere i was missing because surely a tech company in 2022 isn't excluding all countries outside the USA from having useable clock interfaces??

So ridiculous

This is really annoying.  Fit it.  Posted 11/5/22

+1 Yes this needs to happen. Massive annoyance when you see it on all the pictures then you get it and it’s confusing as hell especially when you refer to it at work.. I saw this same feature being asked for years ago and still nothing. Why does it get ignored when it’s such an easy thing to implement? Come on guys!

They won't fix it.
If they had any intention to do so they'd have done it by now

Just purchased and setup a Charge 5 and found this thread after being unable to set date format. This is a big step-down from my old Charge 2! As a UK user, this is just unworkable - will be sending it back. Really amazed at the lack of urgency from a Google-owned company!

Indeed.
This is the last time I buy a Fitbit.

Please can you offer DDMM format - as advertised in Australia. Crazy that the advertising shows it but the actual device doesn’t!? False and misleading advertising. The MMDD format is foreign to us.

I am fully aware the history, Martyn. I read up on it. It’s surprising that they are silent on this - other than moderators occasionally parroting that “it would be useful for many users. Let’s see what others in the community think” - or some such drivel - using many words to say absolutely nothing meaningful. They may or may not care and they may or may not fix. That’s not in my control. What is in my control is to add my voice. I’ve changed the clock face to Hexa on my Charge 5 to at least have the DDMM format but Continuum is the display that I want. It is the one that is advertised in Australia with DDMM showing so at least the Marketing people are clued up but not the software writers. I will probably return the watch - or at the very least, I won’t ever buy Fitbit again. Out of basic courtesy to the many users in many countries who use the DDMM format, Fitbit should comply.

Very eloquently put!

I see there is also a new issue with watches not linking to phones on Bluetooth. Only 42 comments, 18 thumbs up and the Fitbit moderators are all over it promising a firmware fix. Over 141 comments, 256 votes (so far) on this issue and nothing from Fitbit. The only difference I can see is that 9-5 Google reported the Bluetooth issue - so bad publicity for Fitbit. Could it be that public relations are more important than customer relations..?

Whatever the reason, I've just terminated my subscription and have vowed
that this Charge 5 will be the last Fitbit I'll own.

Here in Australia, had my Charge 5 for 9 months and they’ve been “looking into it” for at least 8 months @DavideFitbit .

Just add another language, English UK.
Think it’s “mind over matter”. You don’t mind, we don’t matter!

It’s ridiculous that this bug still hasn’t been fixed!

Please fix this or my next health monitor will not be a Fitbit.

I've already cancelled the ongoing subscription and this will be the last
Fitbit I own.

As a workaround for anybody facing this problem, the "cutout" and "statposter" clockfaces seem to have the DD/MM format. There are also a couple that don't seem to have the month at all. I agree though that it's quite ridiculous we're having to deal with this.

Another fairly reliable workaround is to replace the Fitbit with an
activity tracker that's made by a company who value customer service?

@JamesHu this doesn’t work on the Fitbit Charge 5 as we can’t change the face 😣

JamesHu

@rusti4 I've been able to do it on my Charge 5 by going into settings on the iPhone app. Press your profile picture on the top left -> Charge 5 -> Gallery -> Clocks -> and then you can choose clockfaces.

Sorry the clock face I’ve changed, but all are still in US date format.

That is so weird; I’m not sure why it works for me. FYI I bought my charge 5 in the UK just last week. Here’s a screenshot from my iPhone app on the clock face selection page. As you will notice most of them have MM/DD but a few have DD/MM.

Thanks Rusti4 and JamesHu,

Confirming the same procedure for Android.

"Cutout", "Statposter" and my preferred clockface "Hexa" all show DD/MM
format. This is a work-around, not a fix. Can't get over it's still not
been sorted out.
