Support DD/MM date format on Charge 5

The new Charge 5 only has an American date format when set to an English speaking country, despite having an English date format for many non-English speaking countries. Please change the date format for the UK to DD/MM.

Please also use tweeter to vote my comment under Fitbit support chanel.

This goes beyond UK, Australia & other English speaking country.

Pretty much the whole world uses dd.mm.yy, except a couple of countries, so this should built as a basic feature, not as an extra.

Toda Europa se usa el formato dd.mm.yy

Just purchased the Charge 5, upgrading from the 4. It's 15th March 2023 (15/03/23).

As others have pointed out - the advertising and even the box show the date format we need, but the device doesn't.

The Continuum clockface, the best IMO, was updated late 2022, but still no correct date format a year after this thread started?

Please fix it.

Fitbit won't fix it as they are an American company and see no reason why the rest of the world should not fit in.

I was one of the first to comment on this topic over a year ago.  There's been no move from Fitbit to correct the issue since then and they continue with misleading advertising that shows 'screen shots' that don't exist in reality.

I moved to the Garmin Venu SQ2 a few months ago and threw my Fitbit away.  The Garmin has superior battery life and much superior GPS accuracy.

I won't be purchasing Fitbit products again in the near future.

Another vote from me for this fix; I am very surprised that Continuum face is only available with the US date format.

Please add a Continuum 2 option in the requested format or use the location to do the same thing.

I wonder has anyone in the UK approached the Advertising Standards Authority about misleading advertising?

Came here just to add  my voice to this bug / feature request - DD/MM is used by all the other English speaking countries in the world *other than the US*. This should be used by default when a location is set that is not the USA.

I received a Charge 5 yesterday after using Charge 2 for years but I notice that over 1.5 years later it still seems that the date format still hasn't changed for a UK market!! I've looked everywhere but can't find anything. I had no problem with older versions. If just catering for a US market then why sell in different countries!!

Recently "upgraded" from charge 4 to charge 5. Very disappointed that fitbit ignore these feed back suggestions. Why bother having a place to provide feedback if you have no intention on listening to it or even aknowledging it!

It is simply a way of deflecting complaints.

Fitbit must acknowledge that it is a global company and offer features that the majority of English-speaking countries require, such as date format. The best solution would be to display month as a 3-character alpha value such as Jan, Feb, etc. Options for time display should also appear in Settings such as 12-hour or 24-hour time display - or even analog vs digital format. Go for it developers!

How has this still not been addressed? Less than 24 hours since receiving my Charge 5 and I'm seriously wondering why I made that purchase. Just stumbling across downgrade after downgrade. As a developer myself this is a very minimal change to make and for it to have been open for 2 years is just ridiculous

This is 100% needed. It shouldn't even be a feature request and should be a standard feature included at release. Most of the world doesn't use the US date format.

It is such a shame the Charge 5 isnt a bad device. It is just massively let down by something that would take a half competent developer 30 seconds to fix. They dont even allow you to make custom clock faces for the charge 5 removing any possibility of a community fix.

Thanks for your comments. I did find that there are about a dozen alternate
clock faces within the FitBit web site for the Charge 5, some of which have
date in the format "01 Jan". But I agree, Fitbit gives the impression they
feel the "World" fits between the east & west coasts of the USA. Cheers!

Ignored since September 2021 .. now March 2023.  Just bought groceries and now realise they go out of date two days earlier than I thought.  Regional settings are basic requirememt when choosing to sell in a different country, it is not an issue neding votes.  Pure arrogance and lack of consideration from Fitbit ... disgusted as ever with the Google corporation.

As always, one country in the world uses the mm/dd format and its the USA. So we are forced to conform.

There are other similar issues like this since 2019, how is this not fixed yet, come on.  Charge 5 user here. I know some clock faces use the DD/MM format, but this really should not be dependent on clock faces, the user should be able to change date format freely, regardless of clock face.

Has this Date Format been updated yet?   Is it that hard to sort out?   Come on Fitbit...get it done!!

I have given up on waiting for Fitbit/Google to fix this. I bought a Garmin. Very happy with it.

I particularly object to the fact that the box that I bought the Charge 5 in showed the Continuum clock face with DD/MM format but in real life, MM/DD is the only option available. I had to use another clock face to get the format of DD/MM. I get it that in the US the format of MM/DD is used and that’s fine but don’t forget other countries where that format doesn’t work for us.

I looked back at my first comment on this thread and saw it was 06/04/22. I immediately thought that it was April 22 but it was June 22 as the dates on this thread are in US format! Ironic!

Another disappointed user in no UK(Australian) date format for Charge 5 that I've just updated to. No one listening to ongoing suggestions????

It's been around 18 months since I became aware of the DDMM issue (after upgrading from a Charge 4 to Charge 5) and I clearly remember being surprised by the speed and certainty of a community member saying "There won't be a fix". Unfortunately they were right!

What's inexcusable is the lack of engagement from the company with the community and this issue.

I downgraded to a Charge 4 and have moved on. I've just replaced the woven strap with additional plastic strap that came with the original because I'm reluctant to give fitbit any more of my money. When the Charge 4 dies, I'll have to think long and hard about alternatives to fitbit in the hope of an experience with a company that listens to and values its customers...

Hi,

I have recently upgraded to the Fitbit Charge 5, and it does come with
changeable clock faces, including a few with date in the format 30 Aug.
You may find one there you like.

Your comments about Fitbit are shared. I have contacted Fitbit Support
several times and have not had an acknowledgment or response. The best
support comes from the Community.

Cheers!

Hi Dave,

I recently upgraded from the Charge 4 to the Charge 5, and found it does

I agree with your comments about Fitbit Support. I have contacted them
several times without any acknowledgement or response. They don't seem
to care about their customers.

Other than the date and support issues, the Fitbit, along with the
Fitbit phone app, is still very good. It's a shame the company doesn't
aim higher on the support side.

Let me know if you find something better.

Cheers!

How ridiculous is this, literally just unboxed my charge 5 with "23 Oct" on the front of the box, to find I can only set it to US format like the rest of you have already discovered. Tempted to send it back already if this is the inflexibility I can look forward to when needing assistance.
