Yes! As another commenter mentioned, this would be particularly helpful during pregnancy. I'm a longtime user, but I'm thinking about switching apps now that I'm a few months pregnant, because fitbit is treating my (normal) weight gain as if it is abnormal.
The fact that people have been asking for a weight gain goal for over 2 years and FitBit haven't implemented it still makes me realize that they don't listen to their customers. "Fit" Bit is an understatement. How disappointing.
Not everyone wants to lose weight, a lot of us want to gain and build muscle. The fact that people have been asking for this for a little over 2 years blows my mind. "Fit" Bit is an understatement. How disappointing.
Just to add my voice, I have problems keeping weight on. I'd like to see my Fitbit give a plan to gain weight and not tell me off when I've gone over my calorie "goal" lol
Quite irritating that this feature will probably never see the light of day, considering the requests for "weather apps for blaze" and other requests are "top priority" to most users, while this feature would be relatively low effort to implement...
As fitness comes in different forms from Maintaining Weight, Lowering Weight. One particular form of fitness that is missing is the ability to Increase weight (Healthy) and use maintainence afterwards once this goal is reached.
As someone who is currently underweight by around 2 stone (28lbs) this isn't ideal as I do not want to maintain this current weight nor do I want to lower it furthermore. Ultimately, the only option for me and others like myself is to then use my own calorie intake based on MVP's (MyFitnessPal) recommendation. This making my FitBit graphs and data show persistently and discouragingly always in "Over Target" when this is exactly what i am aiming for in order to gain weight. This in my opinon should be an option that would cater for everyone's needs to reach their own personal "Fitness" goals.
**Although the mobile application states "Gain" to be a possible selection plan, this reverts to "Maintenance" once selected**
I love fitbit and all the changes that it has helped me incorperate into my life and easily monitor. Having all of my weight, sleep and eating habits automatically input into the fitbit has been incredibly helpful when going to my doctor so that we can figure out what is working in making the best choices. The only feature that bothers me is that there is no meal plans supporting weight gain! It is pretty upsetting when I'm having a solid day of exercise AND healthy eating only to have a negative response to my food intake log. Many people are not just trying to loose weight and get in shape, there are many people that are trying to gain weight and muscle mass and stay in shape! Gaining weight and muscle involves eating MORE calories than what will just be burned in a day. Add an overactive metabolism or malabsorbtion to the equation and the calorie in:out ratio is going to be very off! I feel like adding this feature would not only be more encouraging for all groups but could also make FItbit a more valuable tool for athletes and body builders.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE hear my cries Fitbit! add this much overdue feature!
It would benefit to many of us to have a meal plan that encourages weight gain. Right now I can only set FitBit to use the "maintenance Plan" which doesn't encourage or help me with my goal.
Weight gain needs to be an option. It's ridiculous to assume everyone who uses fitbit is trying to lose weight. Some of us just like to exercise but would like to be at a healther BMI, which means gaining weight.
Hello, the first comment in this thread dates back to 2013. it's been four years, and still no progress on adding a weight gain feature for those of us who are trying to gain weight. I would really appreciate it if you could add this function into your App. Thanks!
Its not coming 😐 which imho is why their brand will eventually die off, I dont even use my Fitbit anymore and a lot of my friends have switched to apple watches
If this basic feature isn't implemented I'm not going to buy the next editions, I only received this Surge because of a Qantas promo of half off and points to waste.
Fitbit, this is years old, my first comment was to a thread where I thought this was a recent problem.
How has this not been fixed? The moderators comment makes no sense?
It would be great? But you are not going to do it....?
I second everyone on here! You really need to add a weight gain goal with diet and exercise that support those! I want to add muscle mass and eat more and could use help from fitbit!!
FitBit don't care it seems, their market must be mainly overweight people, not athletes, otherwise they would have implemented this.
Guess we have to find a manufacturer that provides the features it advertises.
I bought FitBit as it seemed the most popular and Qantas were running a promotion.
I'm going to do a lot more research for the next purchase and considering this feature has been asked for 4 months and I know dietitians that could provide multiple in one day, it will be very unlikely that it will be a Fitbit, considering the development framework is already in place with the lose or maintain functions, it just seems lazy, at least you could provide the community with an ETA on implementation, ironic for a fitness company that they don't cater to people who are fit.
Even then, for a first time customer experience, I no longer will be trusting Fitbit as the industry leaders.
Also, the steps counted is extremely wrong and I've ran down 9 floors of fire stairs with it on to catch a delivery, 0 levels recorded.
Overall, not impressed with the Surge. I am with the Aria scales, they work as advertised. However, I'd prefer an integrated solution so will have to buy new scales as well.
There must be other manufacturers out there catering to athletes instead of over-eaters.
I'd pay triple for a device with more accurate sensors and catering towards people who really care about factors beyond steps counted and a heart rate sensor with a 15 second or so lag.
TL;DR my review after a couple of weeks use.
Excellent customer service, great user interface, terrible sensors and lacking advertised features.
