Support International Date Formats

It's 2018. Simply put, new devices and applications which don't take into account the needs of the world community in terms of a very basic date display should not exist. It's not that hard.

I can understand that the majority of folks in the USA don't really care about the way the rest of the world uses dates. And it would therefore be exceedingly difficult to drum up enough support via a "popular vote". But, it's just common courtesy.

Any news on this??? it's been years

Yes please and unsure why it should still be a request 2 years later. Whisper it softly - most of the world doesn't live in America.

It's pretty clear that they're not going to support the date format used by most of the world and they don't care about their non-american users.  I've had 4 types of fitbits over 6 years, but I'll be moving on to something else rather than purchasing a new model because of this.

This request is now over 2 years old.

I am not sure FITBIT realise most of the world doesn't live in America and don't use MONTH DAY YEAR format.

Instead most of the world use the International Date format of DAY MONTH YEAR.

There is no real reply from FITBIT in what for the IT computer community have had for SEVERAL DECADES.

I agree totally. No one is listening or cares or both.

I want to upvote this a million times!!! Why on earth did you hardcode date format to MM/DD? Change it to region based or an option to choose DD/MM format. It’s absolutely annoying and it messes up people’s brain.

I see this request was made in 2018. I am now adding my comment on the 2oth of August 2020 (20/08/20 not 08/20/20).

Forcing everyone else to use the illogical American date format is quite arrogant. When will you make this option available?

It seems mad that 2 years later this still hasn’t been solved. I’ve just bought an inspire hr and am incredibly frustrated I can’t change the date order to dd/mm. it makes no sense that not being an option when it was on the Alta. When will this be solved?

My first comment on this thread was 18 months ago after I received my fitbit as a Christmas gift (although the date reads to me as though I posted on the first of June). OFFERING DDMMYYYY BASED ON TIMEZONE OR PREFERENCE IS A VERY STRAIGHTFORWARD FIX. Fitbit has been ignoring this request for over 2 years now. Your non-US customer base has grown exponentially and yet your date format has not changed to fit the needs of your users. Do better, Fitbit.

Well, I've waited long enough for Fitbit to allow the change of date format.  I'm  now the happy owner of an Apple watch. Will never again buy or recommend Fitbit. They don't seem to have any respect for their customers.

My Inspire HR just arrived and I would have assumed that non-US date format would be supported. I can now see that this request has not been actioned for the past few years. Crazy as it would seem such a simple feature to fix and that FitBit wouldn't want to lose customers! Doesn't bode well if there are other problems with the device.

Can there be the option on clock faces to have the date format as dd/mm especially for countries where this is how we record the date?

Hi @Wemmers, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to use international date formats. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.

I’ve just today purchased my very first Fitbit and let’s be upfront and serious for just a second here. It’s 2021 and when was the last time you came across any piece of electronics other than a Fitbit that forces you to accept another Country’s naming convention like this. My 10 year old Nintendo Wii let’s you do this! It’s not functionality that should be voted on or requested, it’s a piece of the very most basic set-up functionality and is unacceptable for Fitbit not to offer this and is in some way a little discriminatory! This would take a developer minutes to code and would satisfy the clear want and need for this from anybody in at least Western Europe let alone the rest of the World! Stop messing about and come join us in future!

UK and most of world use DD/MM/YY, only USA use Month/Day/Year. Simply update UK location to display correct date for users or give option to choose.

Hi,

I can see you’ve copied and pasted your earlier response to another user about this, I had seen that response further up the chain so we’re not really any further forward. As this is not addressed to me, is it meant to be a response to my post? Are you implying this long outstanding issue should be corrected soon?

The concerning part of this is the apparent  incorrect way it is being treated. This should not be treated as a feature request or an option, this is very basic, product, account and system set-up configuration for most of The World that exists outside of The US and has unacceptably been on the go for over two years!

Totally agree, can't believe the cost of the Sense but they won't even allow UK date format. I'm not american and it is just plain confusing.

INTERNATIONAL DATE FORMAT = DAY, MONTH and YEAR. It is not too hard to get this to happen. It just needs the technical department, marketing and management to listen. All tech companies including Apple, Microsoft, Google, Tesla all have INTERNATIONAL date format options. USA time format is out of step with the rest of the world.

Two updates since I wrote my post nearly three months ago and still no International Date Format. C’mon Fitbit, get with the programme, there’s more International people out there than Americans and we’ve been bleating on about this for over two years. It’s really quite unacceptable!

woodersonb

This is just wholly unacceptable! We are still being forced to use a date format that is used in very few countries in The World. What makes it even more bonkers is that some clock faces have an International Date Format and some don’t. You clearly can do this but a choosing not to. It’s really unacceptable to treat customers who are paying a premium for your product this way. If every country that uses international date format stopped selling your products, the company would go bankrupt and you’d all be out of a job!

Has this not been fixed?

Nope. They seem to not care, even though it's been complained about for
years and it's an easy fix. When my Fitbit dies I'll be replacing it with
an Apple watch. Zero tech support at Fitbit. It's ridiculous this hasn't
been sorted yet.
