Team Option for Challenges

Create a team option for challenges such as the Workweek Hustle.  The team with the highest average wins.  Suppose you want to set up three teams such as:

  • (You) Captain Kirk, Bones, Spock
  • Captain Stubing, Julie, Gopher
  • Captain Dallas, Ripley, Kane

First, you invite the other captains (as captains), then you (and the other captains) invite your teammates (as teammates) like such:

fitbit-teamchallenge-invites.jpg

Once everyone has been added, the leaderboard will sort the rank of teams first, then within teams, shows the rank among the teammates like this:

fitbit-teamchallenge-leaderboard.jpg

The chatter can be designated within the team or for the entire challenge.  The limits can be expanded to say 3 teams and 10 members within each team.

Team mode would be the best! My whole family would buy fit bits so we could compete against other families. We could do boys vs girls and a father daughter or mother daughter combo. Such a good idea!

I've gotten a lot of positive feedback on the idea, and I'm really surprised how much people like my suggestions.

@Robert1988 and @IdleDev I just felt like Fitbit Challenges were lacking in an "intensive" mode. Sure, WWH and the like are pretty fun, and catching up can sometimes be an investment in moving and getting as many steps as possible, but that's not really... challenging?

@Mbusch Yes! Team mode would be AWESOME. And about Fitbits? The Flex 2 is pretty good and fairly cheap to buy, and even if they don't want to buy trackers, most smartphones can use MobileTrack. 🙂

It would undoubtedly be a great idea to make teams on the Fitbit app. Everyone would be able to pick a team and their steps would go towards that teams amount. There could also be leader boards within the separate teams. It would be a great way to motivate everyone to push their step count!

Awesome idea!

My and my parents are very competitive. But some days we cant do as many steps as we like. I think along with the work week hustle, there should be an option to either go solo or work in a team. It would be really fun and would definitely keep us motivated.

This is a great idea! It would encourage a lot of healthy competition. There would probably be enough pridefulnes between teams to generate a lot of steps.

While doing a weekend warrior or workweek hustle, friends should have the option to team up with each other and verse the teams of their friends. The steps of each individual will get added to the total team steps, and the same applies to every team. Whichever team wins, all of the members of that specific team will get the winning message.

Thats a great idea KokiriKid, I would love this as this would require teamwork and motivation for more steps.

We have a fitness group with people i don't want to be friends with all of them, but that I want to challenge. We need the ability to create challenges within a Group (or activity group?) . Groups versus Groups, would also be super cool! Better than Clash Royale!

Please create an option to have team challenges! Everything is all individual and it would be nice to have me and my friends in a team against the opponents and, when the challenge has ended, our teams steps will be a combined total to calculate the winning team.

Me and me friends walk together and can be boring walking/running along side the person you are competing against and be great to team up!

On the challange tab. Create challanges where you and a partner are a team against another two people. Maybe even 4 person teams

It would be great if you were able to do Challenges in teams of groups!

For example, we have FitBit friends in two different cities - it would be good to be able to challenge one city against the other!

Is Fitbut going to make the team challenges possible? This has been several years now and I am beginning to believe that we are not being heard. Fitbit? Can we get a response here?

I agree with you. I have never heard from Fitbit and it doesn’t look like they want the idea

I really think fitbit should create a group challenge that aims towards working as a team. I was in a weekly hustle and a team member dropped out because she felt discouraged as she wasnt able to catch up to myself and another person. Although i do know this is a competition but it would be nice to havre one set up that we can all encourage each other.

Example would be.... To get a certain amount of steps between the group within a certain amount of time. So all of our steps combined would work towards the same goal. This way we can encourage each other.

This would be a great feature as i would like to challenge my daughter but she would get discouraged going agaisnt me.  I would like to be able to motivate her by working as a team with her.

Such a great idea. This kind of challenge would be more fun for me. You wouldn’t need to get rid of the current types, just add something like this to the lineup.

I love this idea! Learning to achieve objectives with a team is a great skill and for some, an even greater motivator than running to the top of the mountain alone. I too, once ended up part of a work-week hustle that was wildly out of balance with some of the people hitting 14,000 steps before lunch. It wasn't fun at all as I had no hope of even coming close since I work full time. I've not participated in another one since. I'd also like to encourage my daughter (and have her encourage her daughter) by working as a team.

Thanks for the support of my suggestion.  I think lots of people would take advantage of this option if it was available.

I love this idea, and I hope Fitbit implements it. Cooperative games can be lots of fun! In the meantime, I think you could use the current system and use the chat feature to create the kind of goal you are talking about. Tell everyone how many steps you want to get as a group, and keep everyone updated on your progress. It would take a little more work, because you'd have to add up everyone's steps yourself, but it could work. I love this idea!

Yes! I posted a idea just like this a long time ago!

@SunsetRunner I absolutely love your idea of Teams and Elimination modes. Perhaps if more than 2 teams compete there could be the option to eliminate after a certain amount of time. I hope a moderator actually sees this, because this is an interesting idea.

I would love to see a challenge like the work week hustle where you can work as a team to reach a collective goal, rather than competing against one another. This would encourage you to get moving to ensure that you don’t let the team down. You can all see who is contributing the most steps, and encourage one another to put in more effort.
