Team Option for Challenges

Create a team option for challenges such as the Workweek Hustle.  The team with the highest average wins.  Suppose you want to set up three teams such as:

  • (You) Captain Kirk, Bones, Spock
  • Captain Stubing, Julie, Gopher
  • Captain Dallas, Ripley, Kane

First, you invite the other captains (as captains), then you (and the other captains) invite your teammates (as teammates) like such:

fitbit-teamchallenge-invites.jpg

Once everyone has been added, the leaderboard will sort the rank of teams first, then within teams, shows the rank among the teammates like this:

fitbit-teamchallenge-leaderboard.jpg

The chatter can be designated within the team or for the entire challenge.  The limits can be expanded to say 3 teams and 10 members within each team.

So I love the challenges that are available but sometimes it seems a little grindy when its you against all who you invite to the challenge. i think it would be great to team up with one or two people as a team and challenge other sets of teams. then while working towards any personal goal you are working as a team to get more steps or miles etc combined than the other team does.

Can you make collective challenges. Instead of working for one winner, can we work together in a group for one goal? Like 3-4 people working towards 100,000 steps in a day... Like the new virtual walks. They would be great to use for collective goals.  Maybe a group working to loose 100 or 4-5 people make 500,000 steps in a week?

please please, please allow us to set up groups in the challenges ie i belong to a slimming group and we like to challenge each other, i had friends who just want be in a challenge where we know each other. to be able to set up groups and give the group a name would be so cool, also to have a scoreboard of results on these challenges would be really encouraging ie to get a monthly winner ect.

when setting up a challenge id really like to just be able to click on my group called...SW or diving friends or running group. ect and know that we have our regular group challenging each other.

this function needs to be set in the friends section not in the community section as i am not talking about community groups so i hope ive explained what i mean well enough

i love my fitbit but this would improve it just 100% and really take the edge on other fitness trackers

@mantababe if you just want to challenge your friends, you can do it now. This request is for teams as groups to challenge each other as teams .

Say a group of friends called Divers challenge a group of people called Runners. The runners would be another could be a group of unknown people.

I'm in one challenge every week that is composed of extended family members.

I'm loving my Fitbit and it's making me fitter.

Whilst I was chatting in a challenge, I had the thought of how cool would it be if a 5 day hustle of 10 people could challenge another 5 day hustle. Let's say you would pick your group of 10 together to challenge with another group of 10. Obviously the winners at the end of the 5 days would have the most amount of steps.

What do you think?

I think this is interesting... To use the total number of steps from the whole group. That's awesome.

Good idea, thanks for taking the time to share it with us. I think this would be very fun to do! Healthy competition with friends. Keen to hear what others think?

I was looking for a 'couples challenge'.   I'm surprised something like this doesn't already exist.   This team idea would fit that perfectly.

People have been asking for a team challenge option for three years now...and nothing. How has FitBit not figured this out? It can't be that hard. The original post told them how to do it. Come on FitBit, don't be lazy. Let's see some hustle.

I have actually grown bored of the Fitbit challenges because they haven’t changed them in so long. It has resulted in me using my Fitbit less. PLEASE do group challenges to bring my motivation back!

I would love to see more challenge options in general (more adventure races please!) but in addition to competing against each other, I would love to see a challenge that is more about working together. Kind of like goal day but longer than a day. In Canada we have the Carrot App, which gives you points for retailers for walking! It's pretty awesome, but one thing I really like about the app is the partner challenge where together you have to hit your step goal 10 times in 14 days. Then you both get a bonus. It naturally forces you to encourage each other and hold each other accountable.

I love competing and it definitely pushes me, but I've been doing challenges with work people and there's really only 2 or 3 of us that have any chance at winning, the others are just there to be involved in work things so it'd be nice to be able to have them not only participate but be a part of working together to achieve a goal. It could be a distance goal or a step goal that collectively you have to hit in a week to get the badge. Maybe different badges for all the different goals you could do and maybe different time limits. Once you have the main programming in place it seems like it'd be a quick and easy thing to provide a lot of options by just changing a few settings. I love my badge collection! I'd love to see more.

+1 for me having introduced fitbits to my kids. Both are incredibly determined but putting them against each other all the time could end up in tears! I’d love to have the option to set up a challenge to work together to achieve a step target.

Pretty much everyone in my family has a Fitbit now, but obviously, considering the ages run from 7 to 70 and some have more time than others, the challenges are unbalanced and unfair. Allowing us to set up teams would be a great way to shake things up, keep everyone in the game, and encourage young and old to do their best. Thank you Fitbit for considering implementing a way to make everyone’s effort count.

That would be wonderful but when I contacted FITBIT they wrote back saying they had team mode and didn’t understand what we are trying to convey.

There are so many people who have replied wanting this too. Sad they don’t see it

So my friend does not like the competition part of it since he sometimes just isn't able to get his steps in. I suggested it would be nice if we could set a group goals so that me and my friends can all contribute to meet one big goal rather than seeing who can get the most steps.

Ex: 50,000 steps goal. I walk 10,000, my friend walks 15,000, and my other friend walks 25,000 and we meet the goal. I think this would help everyone that wants to participate but doesn't want to compete.
