Trade in/Upgrade Program

I've been a fitbit user for a little over a year now, receiving one as a gift last Christmas. Now seeing how my flex is so behind the times, I would like to upgrade to one of the HR ones. However, spending another 130-150 is very difficult. Wanting Fitbit to offer an upgrade or trade in program to allow for this to be more affordable.

Hi, I believe that someone has made a similar suggestion and others may agree or have voiced this as well.  Is there a way for Fitbit to create an upgrade policy to move their customers up the product line over time?  Sounds like a good business idea to me as well as a good way to encourage their user base to stay in the Fitbit family.  I own a Surge and Charge 2.  These devices account for a significant portion of the reason why I do some of the activities and exercises I do regularly - specifically of the cardio type.  Once you start to measure your performances and decide to challenge yourself to improve upon past results, you are making progress.  Some devices have limits to them, may/may not have heartrate tracking, GPS, WATERPROOF etc.  All of these features encourage you to do more, push harder, develop workouts that contribute to your overall well being.  I am currently starting to train for Tri's.  Swimming is now in the fold for me.  I need something that is waterproof not resistant.  Since I have already invested hundreds of dollars into devices, I will be researching what else is out there as I'm sure my next device will be another significant investment.

To summarize, an upgrade policy would be very helpful to get the customers that start out with a basic device into your more advanced products.  Win win for both.  How about an exchange system?  Setup a market where people can put their older devices up for a new user to purchase?  How does this help Fitbit?  It makes the original owner look into upgrading the device they just sold!

Best to all the customers and users out there that have discovered these products and the impact they have made on their lives.

Fitbit should have a upgrade program for existing customers to get a discount on a new item either when theirs gets old and worn out or just to be able to upgrade to a new product. I cant justify spending this much money on a new Fitbit when I spent what I did for my current one! It still works, but the screen is so scratched and nicked...

I just mentioned this on twitter @Real_pastorpete and Fitbit said post here. They need a trade in offer like other companies. Such as Apple, Samsung and their trade in plans for upgrading phones. Would love the updated Fitbit Versa for the active lifestyle, but another $200 when I have the Blaze is hard to justify.

I posted mine on a Facebook post of theirs for the new Versa! I would love to upgrade too, I only have the Alta, but that was still expensive enough.

What a brilliant idea. I had a fitbit alta that broke within it's first year, to say I was gutted was an understatement! Fitbit customer service were brilliant and replaced it for me. I have had my replacement under a year and am really interested in getting the new versa! However not so keen on paying  £199 for it, a trade in service would be a really good idea.

I just send the team a message few minutes ago regarding the trade-in program.

I hope they have it as I want to upgrade my current Charger 2 to Versa. I really don't know what I am going to do with Charge 2 if I upgrade to Versa and I really don't think paying a full price for Versa while Charge 2 is still working perfectly is a wise idea!

I sent a support ticket to ask about this program and I received a response from the team stating that currently Fitbit has no trade-in program and even non of them in near future.

I have been a fitbit user since the first band. I upgraded it to Blaze and am very happy with it. The upgrade program will help the users stay up to date, fitbit company doesn’t have to support the old devices and more than anything else users stay loyal to the brand, If I am not getting the new features, it’s just about time that one starts looking for options. Grass is always greener in another house’s lawn until you get from fresh one for your own house.

Hey there! I searched to try and find if this was already suggested but couldn’t find anything. If I am wrong, please point me in the right direction. I was just hoping to suggest that there be a trade-in feature of your current Fitbit device to upgrade to a new one! Thank you!

I would love to see an upgrade program added. I started with a Charge then upgraded myself to a Blaze. I am very interested in the Versa but can’t afford to upgrade every year or so on my own. Looking into Apple Watches as Apple has buy back programs to help customers upgrade. Would prefer to stay with Fitbit as most of my family and friends also have Fitbits, but time will tell.

I have to agree with these comments, Fitbit you NEED to offer your LOYAL fitbit users/customers a trade in for a SMALL upgrade fee option to a brand new Versa fitbit model and surely Fitbit could easily reuse the older Blaze etc tech as I have a Blaze Model and would gladly love to upgrade for a small fee to one of these new water resistant/proof models.

Agreed, I have the Blaze and it works just fine, but I would like to upgrade to the Iconic, was hoping for a money off situation when you trade in a working fitbit.

After all the comments and votes since 2014 I can't believe fitbit yet to setup the trade-in program. Wondering if they even consider this. I own the Blaze and would really like to upgrade to the new released Versa.

Yesterday I met a friend and I saw he had another smart watch with the bands and it had more functions.

While I am stick with Fitbit and I don't see any chance from the company for a trade-in program. It seems they do not know what they will do with the old devices from trade-in programs. They seems to struggle like us! ^^

Fitbit doesn't care about what their customers want. Lol.

I wish fitbit had a trade in program.  As an avid runner I am somewhat dissatisfied with my blaze and would like the versa.  I just bought my blaze.

Yes please!!! I've had 3 fitbits so far, 2 charge HRs and 1 charge 2. There should be some type of discount or trade up policy for returning customers.

My Blaze has began to have more and more issues with syncing, resetting, and holding a charge. I got it less than a year ago, however do not see the purpose in replacing it with another Blaze when the Blaze has been discontinued and is not being updated or improved. There should be a program to trade in/upgrade to a Versa since the Blaze is no longer on the market. I have been a loyal fitbit customer who has upgraded from a Flex to a Blaze, however I am frustrated that I will be stuck with a watch that has been discontinued.

I'd like to add my vote! Would love a trade in program. I've been using different fitbits for at least 7 years now. I have an old Charge HR which still works, but now there are so many advancements - it would be nice to be able to get some sort of credit for being a loyal user. I'd love a Versa, but hard to justify $200 to replace something that isn't broken.
