Use HR and HRV to measure sleep quality

In addition to using the fitbit accelerometer to measure periods of wakefulness and restlessness, use the fluctuations in heart rate and heart rate variability to give a better idea of how many sleep cycles were completed or how much time was spent in light vs deep sleep stages. At least with heart rate, the data is all there already. You just need an extra algorithm that imports the heart rate vs time graph to the sleep section and gives a rough estimate of sleep quality and time. Heck, you could even build in a function that warns the user about nightmares, sleepwalking, or sleep apnea.

HRV is probably one of the most useful

biomarkers reflective of health that could be generated in conjunction with Sleep data.

That’s an interesting idea and could be useful, thanks for sharing this suggestion.

Change the dashboard slept hours chart, which currently only has simple grays bars for the sleep quality, to show the number of minutes in the various sleep stages using the color coding for awake, deep, light and REM sleep.

Hi @charleskn, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to see the number of minutes in the various sleep stages. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.
