Independent Fitbit android app file installation instead of using Playstore

We are conducting longitudinal research, for that purpose we want to control as many variables as we can. We have Mason OS (Modified Android OS), as we do not have Google Playstore enabled, is it possible to install Fitbit android app file independently? Are there any caveat to it?
