New user install issue: versa / versa2 - out of the box issue

Is there a way to allow users who buy a versa / versa2 to install your app out of the box?  A new user will have a lower firmware, perhaps SDK3.0 compatible.  So if my app is using SDK 4.0, I would have to wait for the user to update their new versa2 before they could install my app.

 

Is the only choice to downgrade my SDK usage to 3.0 for example?

The on-boarding process should take users through the firmware installation process, bringing them up to the latest version.
