My app is now almost more than 2 years old and back then all apps were free. I would like to make the app paid since the user base since the versa 2 exploded, even had to upgrade my server.
Now according to documentation you can not make your app paid when it was listed as free. So i see no other option than uploading a new version of the app with a message containing "Free version of app discontinued, go the app gallery to install the new version of Golf GPS".
Am I right that this is the only method?
Will updates be forced to users or do they have to do it manually?
What is the reason why apps cannot be converted to paid?
If there are other methods, please let me know.

We can't convert an existing app from free to paid because it was not deemed fair to existing users.
You can certainly publish a new version with a new ID, and we can make the previous version private. In theory if you submit the update, it should automatically download for users while they are charging and wifi is available.
Email appgallerysupport @ fitbit.com when you need the old app removed from the gallery.
