Thanks for all the support to the Fitbit team over the years.
Unfortunately for my taste there is not enough progress to the SDK, Product line, API and developer experience to stick around. I have been waiting patiently for changes to come like
- Always on display
- access to more stats and sensor data
- NFC access
- Wallet access
- Integration of a supported payment system
- merger of the Google Fit and Fitbit platforms
- and many more small and large improvements
It seems that there is not much of a roadmap and also not much appetite for the 3rd party developer ecosystem despite the herculean effort the team here is putting into supporting us in the forums and on Discord, which I appreciate.
I will be keeping an eye on how this platform develops but for now it is not worth the investment for me.
I will keep what I have in the store for free and support that for the next 6 months for my loyal users. then also shut that down.
