Updated Versa to new firmware, now my app doesn't work

I've created an app on my versa and had it for a solid year or so. I just updated the firmware on 9/16 and now the app won't communicate with my phone. When I go into the developer area on the fitbit app on the phone, it says the the app is "inactive". How do I get that to say "active" and get things running again? I've deleted and reinstalled the app, rebooted the watch... No go. The dev console log shows no connection or linking up between the phone and versa... no errors either.

What can I do?

I just force stopped and cleared the phone app cache on my Android phone.  Now the Versa app is communicated with the phone properly.  https://media.giphy.com/media/a3ANjL4bRwsO4/giphy.gif

I had a user who suggested stopping and the app and clearing the cache. Seems to clear quite a few issues with the Android connection.

I don't get the whole app cache thing.  It seems to be a sticking point whenever apps get updated or an OS update occurs.  Why doesn't Android auto clear app caches when they get updated or when the OS updates?
