Windows Phone 10 Developer Bridge

I am finding that the Windows Phone 10 app crashes very frequently when the developer bridge is active.  I am able to build and deploy, and see it start running the app on the Ionic and the companion stuff on the phone, but very soon the app terminates on the phone and then I have to re-open it at which point it is clear that it is a new start of the app and not a resume, then turn on the developer bridge and reconnect it in Fitbit studio.  Is there anything that I can do to improve the stability of the app on WP10, or do I have to just wait and hope for an update to fix it?

Hi @SkipFire,

We're investigating this issue and will look to have a response for you soon. This is not the expected behavior. Thank you for reporting it! Could you trying this on a Windows 10 PC and let us know if this also reproduces there?

If you any any further details on device and OS version, that could also be helpful to us.

Thank you.

@TristanFitbit, is that possible without unpairing from my phone and resetting the watch?

@SkipFire Absolutely! No need to un-pair the Fitbit device or reset it. Simply install the Windows 10 app from the Microsoft Store, and then it should sync to your Fitbit. Turning off Bluetooth on your phone will ensure that it is open and ready to communicate with other devices.

Let me know if you encounter any issues. 🙂

@TristanFitbit, I have not been able to get my Windows 10 PC to sync with my Ionic.  I've shutoff bluetooth on phone, and other bluetooth devices are able to connect to my Windows 10 PC, just not the Ionic.  I also do not see the Ionic in the paired bluetooth devices list on my PC.

@SkipFire Which version of Windows 10 are you running? (Open Start and type "Winver" then enter.). Once Bluetooth is turned off on any device which has the Fitbit app installed, apart from your Windows 10 pc, can you try restarting the smartwatch and then trying to sync within the Fitbit app?

We think we know what is causing the issue you reported and are working on a fix, however your PC should definitely be able to discover and sync with your Ionic in the meantime.

@TristanFitbit, I finally got it connected to my Windows 10 PC and I did not experience any crashes on Windows 10 PC.

PC version is 1709 Build 16299

@TristanFitbit it looks like an update to the Windows App was pushed out, 2.26.1300 48667 and the app seems to not crash on Windows Phone now, but the device screensaver and lock coming on kill the Developer Bridge and then it will not turn back on without force stopping the app.

I just bought a Fitbit Charge 2. My PC will not find it. Windows 10, build 16299. We have run every diagnostic and driver update that we can think of. I'm very frustrated - I asked in the shop if the fitbit would run on Win 10 and they said yes. The box it came in says "Windows 10" and "bluetooth enabled PC" but does not specify Bluetooth 4. Can't tell if we have bluetooth 4.  I'm ready to return the fitbit to the shop and get my money back. It shouldn't be this difficult!!!!!!

Hi @kiwipam ,

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with this. Can you confirm that you are using the Windows 10 app, downloaded from the Microsoft App Store on your device? Is it failing to find the Charge 2 during the setup process in the app?

Did you attempt to pair or setup the Charge 2 with another device first, such as an iOS or Android phone? (If so, those devices could be connected to your tracker and preventing your PC from discovering and syncing to it).

Thanks.

Yes I installed the app yesterday. It just won't find the Charge 2. The
screen on the Charge 2 is lit up, so it has power. After we had all this
drama my husband has been trying to fix it, and I think he has the Charge
working with his android phone. I'm too fed up to even try connecting with
my phone. But we tried the PC first. I want it to work on the PC. But he's
gone to work now so his phone isn't even in the house so it can't be
pairing with that can it?

@kiwipam OK, it's good to know that you have the correct app installed. As I understand it: you tried to setup your Charge 2 on your PC but were unable to. Your husband then setup the Charge 2 using his Android phone. The PC will still not pair or sync with your Charge 2. Correct?

So, at this point I am assuming that you are logged into the Fitbit app with the Fitbit account you created, and the Charge 2 is not syncing. When you tap the "sync" button in the little device tile at the upper right hand side of the app, it doesn't sync and there is no blue progress bar, correct?

I can confirm that if the Android phone that your husband setup the Charge 2 using is not nearby that it would not be connected to that.

Do you happen to have the information available on the PC that you have? The make and model would suffice. This is just to confirm that it has Bluetooth 4.0 capable hardware. There is a good chance that it does, just want to confirm.

If we're unable to solve this quickly here, should you want I can speak directly to one of our internal specialists to see if they can get directly in touch with you.

Thank you for your patience and the effort you've taken to reach out to us for help.

Hi. I downloaded the fitbit app. I have a profile. But when I tell it to
"set up a device" it will not find the charge 2. I am not even getting to
syncing, it just won't find the device.
The PC is one my husband built. It runs Windows 10, version 10.0.16299
build 16299. It has Asus bluetooth and we have checked that that is on and
has the latest driver. I don't know if it is bluetooth 4 though. And that's
partly what's bugging me - it should have said on the box that we needed a
special kind of bluetooth. We don't know if this is fixable without buying
a new PC which we don't want to do.
