Recently did a software update on my Fitbit, highly recommend not doing the latest one. The button on the side was working fine before the update and now it is completely unresponsive. Reached out to customer support and they said it was past warranty and couldn't help me. Software updates shouldn't stop the physical button from working, did a Google search and I'm not the only user this happened to. DON'T UPDATE!!!!

Hello @Dk2025 .
I am sorry this happened to you.
I have never experienced this with my Fitbit (Charge 4 & Charge 6) System/firmware updates.
I have experienced it once with a modeling guitar amplifier, where the firmware update appeared to result in a failed component on one of the circuit boards. Troubleshooting was only done to the board level for that assembly, so I never knew exactly which component failed. Also in my case, the firmware update was applied with the thought of correcting some already "buggy" behavior.
Which Fitbit are you utilizing, and did you happen to note which System/firmware you were updating from and/or to?

@Dk2025 Again, only my experience, and not with a Fitbit, but the bricking of my guitar amp was an extreme statistical minority. Firmware updates have truly come a long way and in 2025 they rarely fail in a fatal manner. I can see it occurring if simultaneously there is a total power failure of the device or if the flash memory is defective, but those are about the only times I would expect a firmware update to fail. I have likely completed hundreds of firmware updates, on many different devices, and my modeling guitar amp is the only failure I can remember.
