Can’t Transfer to Google

I reluctantly tried to move my Fitbit to my Google account but I get a message telling me I can’t add to my Google account as it might be managed by Google Workspace or a school. Well, it’s not. Anyone else had this problem?

Last year it wouldn’t let me add it because it said I already had a Fitbit account associated with my Google account.. which I didn’t!!

Seems to me that they are trying to make this process as difficult as possible and it doesn’t exactly promote an efficient service.

If you are told that your account is already associated. Use the forget password, then log into the Google account. You can the delete the account.

As for the Google account now in question. Let's check it

Here's how to tell:
1. Check your email address:
  • If your email address ends in @Gmail.com, it's likely a personal Google account, not managed by Google Workspace.

  • If your email address uses a custom domain (e.g., name@yourcompany.com), it's likely a Google Workspace account managed by your organization.

2. Look for "Managed by your organization" label:
  • On your account page:
    .
Sign in to your Google Account, go to your account settings, and check for a "Managed by your organization" label. This indicates that an administrator controls your account.

My account is a @Gmail.com account and there is nowhere that it states that it’s managed by anyone other than myself.

That being the case why would Fitbit assume that it is?

Transferring my Fitbit account to Google has been the biggest pain in the backside and I wish they had left well alone as it’s always worked perfectly fine before this interference.

Are you signed in through you Gmail address Xxx@gmail.com. Or signed in through your Google address?

Fitbit isn't assuming. For some reason it sees the account as a managed account. I posted instructions above how to check this

My Google account is signed in via my Gmail address. I have had no problems with it in all the years I’ve had it except with Fitbit since Google took over.

Yes I checked your instructions and can confirm it ‘isn’t’ a managed account so Google is incorrectly assuming it is. There is nothing in my account to indicate it is managed by anyone other than myself.

Just to update further on this I tried again this morning to migrate my Fitbit to Google and lo and behold this time it worked. No message about me being managed by workspace or a school. Fourth time of asking and now it’s done as far as I can tell.
