  • Exercise option for Driving was removed last month in the latest Android app update without any notice. This option is used to delete false steps while driving but still registering calories. As a result, my steps are now overstated. Please reinstall Driving option ASAP!

Hi everyone.

I have great news for you! Our team has developed a fix for this issue and you should be able to log a Driving activity on the Fitbit app. To make sure it's working well for all of you, please go to the Fitbit app, tap the Exercise tile and try logging this activity with all its details.

I appreciate your patience and keep me posted on the outcome.

I agree. I'm on a tractor quite often and used Driving to remove the steps. Does anyone know if Fitbit offered an alternative?

The driving activity under manual activity logging has been removed which means steps are over counted. Bouncing around on bumpy roads or a tractor off road leaves me with massively exaggerated steps. If was a faff to have to manually log driving but at least it allowed more accurate data than currently is available. What is the point of having a system that provides useless data?

Also following up on this, I have a charge 6. I ride a motorcycle for daily commute and that's what I use to delete steps.

Seriously, what happened to that? I need SOME way to tell it not to count those steps. If there's another way, fine. But not that I can tell.

Hey Lizzy, i notice there were some updates to the app today, but still no driving. Is Fitbit so smug they think the devices always count correctly?

They also removed Motorcycle from the activity (search) list. This is no longer a Fitbit issue since Google purchased it. Google has been slowly deprecating Fitbit to make it useless, with the apparent idea that Fitbit users will migrate over to Pixel watches. Unfortunately for Google, their trust level is very low. My wife's Versa 3 gave up the ghost and she moved to Garmin. I'm using a Versa 2 that no longer has heart rate functions (the sensor died). I was using it for the various watch face options and to record flights and steps. Now that it is motorcycle season, it's only value is to tell time. Tracking steps and flights is meaningless since Google removed the activity from the Fitbit app.

Once my Versa 2 dies (and it is limping now), I plan on moving, since companies like Google apparently are more concerned with ad revenue than maintaining a good experience for their end users.
