Fitbit Sense 2 Covering watch face

One of the features I used at least when it came to alarms and when I only needed to spot check the time, I would cover the watch face on my Fitbit sense 1 and the screen would shut off. Now the limit is only 6 seconds and have to cover my arm to avoid being blinded in the morning.

Does anyone else see this issue? Is there a secret setting I haven't seen?

There seems to be no auto blanking when covering the watch, which is strange as this would save battery as it does on the Sense 1, but if you lower your wrist instead it blanks.

I've noticed this as well. I think it is because Sense 2 is running a new Operating System compared to Sense 1 and this feature has not been implemented.

I have found myself both covering the screen and pushing the button "on autopilot" when I want my screen to go black (since these actions both worked on the Sense 1), and of course nothing happens.

Hopefully they will bring these options back, but it's not guaranteed and even if it is, history tells us it likely won't be implemented any time soon. 😞

Sat at the office flipping my wrist and watched it go off! So weird but I guess this is a habit change for myself to not use my hand to cover the watch.

Thank you for your insight!!

After using a Sense I am also used to cover my watch trying to turn off the screen. I have been doing it so many times now 🤦🏼‍

Lowering my wrist isn't working for me, but working on 😊

In the original versa serie i assume this function was achieved via proximity sensor (or maybe a light sensor?). What if the newest flagship doesn't have such sensor?

Good one, this would be another step back compared to the 'old' Sense. But as mentioned in the user manual it has an ambient light sensor, so I guess this sensor can be used for implementing this feature.

But I'm no expert....

Because my screen wake setting is set to Button only, the screen only turns off when I stop interacting with the watch. So it turns of depending on my screen timeout setting. This wasn't the case with my original Sense.
