Not receiving e mails.  First of all it would only let me use my google account which I never use. I have put my actual e mail in but still not receiving e mails

Before considering other options, I'd suggest you confirm the app is running the latest version. See this article: How do I use the Fitbit app?

Make sure that the device is syncing with the Fitbit app.
