Fitbit's official support response to Wallet not working on Sense 2

Hey all,

Just wanted to share my experience with fitbit support about the Wallet issue many users seem to be experiencing. To recap, this is the one where you get the error message 'Something went wrong - Error connecting to Sense 2. Make sure it is close by and turned on.'

I wrote into their chat support today, told the rep I had tried all the troubleshooting steps - force closing app, making sure everything was up to date, reinstalling app, restarting phone, factory resetting the fitbit. No dice.

They then asked for my country and then told me to rest assured, it's been escalated with high priority and I would receive an email shortly.

I left that chat, then a few minutes later received an email from the chat rep who I guess is also the escalation point? Realistically, it seems like they're just trying to avoid having to chat about it live. Here's their email response:

Hi -------,

Thanks for letting us know about this issue when trying to set up Google Wallet on your Sense 2.

We’re aware of it, but may not be able to provide a fix in the immediate future. We'll continue to monitor the situation, and keep our team informed of the impact to you and other customers.

We understand that this isn't the resolution you're hoping for, but rest assured we're always working to improve our products.

We're sorry for any trouble. We appreciate your patience and look forward to getting you back on track.

So I guess I just wanted to warn anyone that's bought this brick and had a similar issue - return it while you can. There is no solution coming. I'll be checking out Garmin going forward.

It's incredible that being a known issue there is no fix. If they let me go back to Fitbit Pay it will be good for me, since my card worked with Fitbit Pay and my mother is still in Fitbit Pay and working

Got some great news!  You know that "Something went wrong.  Error connecting to Fitbit Sense 2.  Make sure it is close by and turned on" error?  Welp, I fixed it.  And I'll be releasing a video here on YouTube hopefully tonight, so you can fix it too.  Warranty replacement devices will now have Google Wallet returned to the Sense 2 in all its glory.  There is also a chance it may fix some of the other issues as well.  Excited?  Me too!  More to follow over the next few hours.

You are never going to believe how you fix this error.  Confirmed working at terminal in pic above!  Follow the Google Wallet Issues thread as I will be posting a solution there.

@SunsetRunner Looks like clickbait/votebait to me, especially with the screenshots coming from two different phones (taskbar icons are different and the first one is offset by what was likely a phone with a camera punch in the top right). But hey, if you think you know something fitbit doesn't (highly likely), can't wait to see it 🙂

Yeah you right.  It's just click bait.  I won't put in the hours to release something, especially when it takes me away from my family and my real job in finance, that actual pays the bills...

Is this guy for real?  You work for Fitbit IT?

@SunsetRunner I guess we'll just wait for the video then 🙂

Unbelievable! Good thing this was the "latest greatest"! Imagine how bad it would be if it were a cheap upgrade! I should have stuck with my Sense! My bands don't stay on or don't connect, I don't have Google assistant, and now I can't have wallet, either. What a waste of money!

Since getting back Google Wallet, I'm actually pretty happy now.  There have been issues, but that's the same with everything in life.  Fix your Google Wallet by following the YouTube video.  See Google Wallet Issues thread.
