Google Wallet doesn't open on the app

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I purchased a Sense 2 yesterday and exchanged it for another one today because Google Wallet wouldn't open on the app to add a second card. With the second Sense, I managed to add two cards to Google Wallet, but it no longer opens when I click on it on the app, see the image below.

Before the exchange, I reached out to Fitbit and they guided me through some reboots and clearing of cache/data, but nothing worked. A Best Buy employee, where I got my Sense from, mentioned that it's probably an app glitch being that when you click on Google Wallet it attempts to open but closes out.  I decided to keep the Sense since I was able to set up the two credit cards that I often use. I also received a response via email from Fitbit which I wanted to share with all, being that I'm not the only one with this problem. It appears that they are aware of this issue and working on resolving it (hopefully soon). Hope this is helpful!

The Google Wallet tile on my fitbit app won't open hence I am u able to add new payment cards. I believe it is a know issue. Is there any time frame for the resolution of this problem?

I think I have the same issue. I purchased a Sense 2 yesterday and had successfully configured Fitbit pay as a part initial set up. I had to call my bank for verification. Everything* was going great until I decided to go for Google Wallet, for the purpose of uniformity. Well, now I can neither downgrade, nor get the wallet to work. Tapping on the wallet icon opens something and closes immediately. On the watch, tapping the "Open" button does the same on mobile, while the watch says, "Syncing wallet from phone".

* Not everything actually. Who on earth releases an app without dark mode in 2023? Not to mention, the clumsy UI. Looks like Fitbit can't spell the word intuitive. Already messaged my friends to avoid this piece of crap.

Had exact same issue, took sometime but managed to find a fix.

  • Unpair device on app
  • Factory reset on the Sense 2 smartwatch
  • Pair again
  • Long press button so menu appears on what you want to set to load up
  • Set Fitbit Pay (Not Google Wallet)
  • Long press button
  • Google Wallet loads up (this I believe is the bug, code issue I guess but I won't explain)
  • Go through app and click on Call Bank button
  • Call Bank, they authorise mobile payments on your phone, you'll receive email, no verification code needed...
  • Go back to Phone, error message appears "Something went wrong", click on Dismiss
  • Go back back back and come out of that setup
  • Go back to your smartwatch, long press button and PIN appears
  • Enter PIN you set
  • Tiny card appears and now you can use it.

Let me know how this goes for you, so I can copy pasta these instructions to others as when googling for an answer I found many threads...

I remember doing something like this and got my debit card on smartwatch because credit card had failed a few times. But I actually want use my credit card, and now the wallet tile does not work as usual. Is it worth factory resetting? One wrong step and I'll have to start afresh.

Same here: I cannot open Google Wallet tile in Fitbit app. It tries to open Google Wallet settings but returns back to Fitbit app. Already tried to re-install Fitbit app which did not help. I use the latest Fitbit app version as of today.

Same, although the workaround I posted above helped me add one card and I am now successfully using this now, I can't add any others (although not really needed so much) and the Google Wallet opens shortly before closing on Fitbit app.

@DByrne04 Welcome to the forums. I will gladly help you regarding Google Wallet.

Thanks for the explanation. This situation arose recently. I believe the following should help you with this. You will need to remove the device from your account and reset it to factory settings. You will then proceed to set it up as a new device. You then should be able to set up Google Wallet again.

To factory reset your device, please open the "Settings" App on your device and scroll until you find "about device". Tap on it, there you have the option to factory reset the device. Tap on it and confirm. Then open the Fitbit app, tap on your profile picture and then on "+ set up a new device" and follow the instructions on screen. After setup, you can proceed to add a new card to Google Wallet.
