Google Wallet using Amex American Express in the UK on Sense 2

So I saw in the Google Play Services release notes that support for adding Amex/American Express cards to Google Wallet Contactless on fitbit is now supported here, so I wanted to try it here in the UK.

I checked my installed play services and I am a version higher than that so I got the update but when I go through Fitbit app - my Sense 2 - google wallet and try to add my Amex card, I get an error that my bank doesn't support contactless google wallet on wear devices yet. 

So I contacted Amex they said they don't block this at all and the issue is down to Google if there is any issue.

I noticed on the google wear supported banks here, American Express isn't listed:

The error I get when trying to add American Express to my Google Wallet for Fitbit Wear is:

This card can't be set up for contactless payments

Your bank doesn't support contactless payments with your watch on your card. Contact your bank for more info or add another card.

Thanks for letting me know about this situation about adding your AMEX card into Google Wallet on this Sense 2.

Can you send me a picture of the message you receive, please? Let me know ig you're having any other type of connection situation? Also, are you using the same email with Fitbit and your Google Wallet account?

 Here is the error message I get, I've had this Amex card on Google Wallet for years and it works fine for phone payments but I can't add it to my fitbit. Other cards I have that aren't AMEX can be added to the Fitbit Google Wallet just fine.

Exactly the same issue here. Amex used fine in Google Wallet. Same error when trying to add to a Fitbit Charge 6. Mastercard works fine.

I am also facing the same issue on my new Sense 2. Elsewhere on Fitbit forums, I have come across the information that this was updated and resolved. It isn't working for me unfortunately. My other Visa and MasterCard cards added without any problems.

Exactly same issue with same error message here. I have been trying since beginning of summer when the news got out but still nothing. It is appalling that Google still couldn't sort this out. It works on my android phone but not on my fitbit watch.
