Hi @Grubboy. Welcome back to the community.
Thank you for taking the time to share the details regarding heart rate and for trying to fix it on your own. Sorry to know the difficulties that you are experiencing.
Please confirm that you have followed the steps listed in this help article: How do I track heart rate with my Fitbit device?.
Also, check the suggestion here: What factors can affect my heart-rate reading on my Fitbit device?

I appreciate your reply Manufitbit but there is something inately wrong with the Sense2. Is this a terminal problem with the device or do you think it will be fixed in a future firmware update? No matter how much it's sugar-coated the Sense2 by all accounts appears to be an inferior device...Regards

The problem I'm experiencing has all the hallmarks of a software bug that is only resolved with a hard reset. I've only had the watch for 6 weeks and is really disappointing when I have no faith in the HR reading even when at rest. Please confirm whether this is an unfixable hardware fault or is it being addressed by your software team... Regards

Google needs to come clean and admit that the problem exists and make an effort to rectify the problem. Very disappointing!
