How do I exchange my Sense 2?

I just received the Sense 2 and figured it was an upgrade from my much older model but this version can’t have hardly any apps put on it — most important one being music (Spotify). It does have Alexa but when I tell Alexa to play music it replies that radio and music can be done on this device. I can’t even put the Starbucks card on this!
Why is this device touted as a newer model and costs $$$$$$ when it’s complete crap ?

The point is, Sense 2 is totally nerfed down, and Fitbit don't show it on their site. Also when you upgrade from PS4 to PS5 you don't expect PS5 to have less features that PS4, this is the first product that I have ever come across when an upgrade is downgrade.

If you bought it from a certified dealer, you should be able to return it.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Did you not do due diligence and research these things before purchasing it?

If purchased through Fitbit.com. See Returns & Warranty

I have also discovered the number of apps that were available on the sense that the sense 2 fails to support. One I used to use a lot was the agenda. It was even shown on the face of the sense 2 in one of the advertisements but it does not exist and is not available. The Sense 2 was sold as an upgrade to the sense. And upgrade implies that all of the apps on the earlier version  features will be there. I understood that Google pay would be coming later but now that it has been released I still can't install it on my watch even though I have the latest firmware upgrade and the latest Android software. I simply don't understand why Fitbit release the watch with so many deficiencies. It was false advertising at best and substandard engineering at worst.

It seems to be up to the independent app developers (not FitBit) to produce new versions of their apps that are compatible with different FitBit models, though I gather few companies and/or developers bother to do this for FitBit devices anymore. The whole FitBit watch product line feels abandoned by app developers. I started with a Versa 2 and eventually upgraded to a Sense. At the time, I was quite annoyed that there were less apps available for the far more expensive Sense than there were for the Versa 2. That was like 2 years ago, and nothing has changed. It's a drag for sure.

As for a refund, I say just contact FitBit Support. They've found them to be very helpful in the past.

@tdx "It seems to be up to the independent app developers (not FitBit) to produce new versions of their apps that are compatible with different FitBit models" - this statement would be valid if developers were able to develop for Sense 2 and currently, they are not because there is no support for that.

Best Answer

Oh really? I just figured that new models would have been added to the SDK well before release dates to help avoid exactly what OP is complaining about.

Best Answer

Yes really @tdx. as not being mentioned on the spec page, fitbit has decided not to add SDK support

This is an easy answer considering that Fitbit says the Sense 2 will support "hundred of apps", this statement stays for week up on their website before being taken down after users complained that this was a lie.

So maybe the OP did his/her research and got the answer apps will come. Review also mentioned apps on Fitbit words.

This was on Fitbit webpage for weeks, on the Sense 2 page.
