How do you turn off the automatic start on exercises? The manual says to wait for GPS signal before starting an exercise to track on maps, but as soon as I choose the exercise the timer starts about 3 seconds later. Very frustrating. Thinking of getting my money back and going to Garmin.

@DacK   If you are swiping left/right on your Sense 2 to a screen with three exercises and the word 'All' at the bottom, this is your Exercise Tile.  Those three options are Quick Start shortcuts.  They are tap and go.  If you want to wait for the GPS to connect, tap All, then select your shortcut.  Now wait for the GPS to connect before you tap on the Start arrow.

@LZeeW Thank you for your help.

@DacK , Nice to see you back. Just to add to LZeeW 's info.

Sense 2 automatically recognizes and records many high-movement activities which are at least 15 minutes long. See basic stats about your activity in the Fitbit
app on your phone.

  • From the Today tab , tap the Exercise tile .
  • Choose to turn on walk, run, or bike ride detect to automatically start the Exercise app when your watch recognizes a walk, run, and bike ride. To turn this setting on:
    1. Open the Exercise app .
    2. Tap the walk, run, or bike ride option.
    3. Swipe up and turn on Walk Detect, Run Detect, or Bike Detect. The next time your watch detects this workout type, the Exercise app automatically opens.
Note that if you leave this setting off, basic stats about your walks, runs, and bike rides are still recorded in the Fitbit app.

First off. please read the actual post.

I want to turn it  >>>>>OFF<<<<< not on.

Second, I tried what you said and the watch still starts as soon as I click on the type of exercise.

maybe you really really need to use the product.

Short answer to all of this is I've sent it back and am asking for a refund or a replacement , such as a Garmin.

@JuanFitbit   While your post describes other ways of exercise tracking, there are two things to note:

  • Automatic exercise tracking of high movement activities (SmartTrack) doesn't use GPS
  • Walk, Run, and Bike detect open the Exercise app, but it will still take minutes for the GPS to connect

Hi @DacK - to turn off auto recognition, in the Fitbit App, click on the exercise tile, then 3 dots and activitiy settings or gear icon.

There you will see a list of auto recognised activities.

Select each one in turn and switch off auto recognize.

@DacK   I really do use this product.  There's more than one way to start an exercise.  Based on what you wrote, it sounds like you are tapping on an exercise icon in one of the circles on your Exercise tile on your sense 2 screen.

IMG_0259.jpeg

These are quick start shortcuts.  They start the exercise in about three seconds.  It doesn't wait for GPS to connect before starting.  I only use them for non-GPS activities.  If you want to start an exercise from this screen and want GPS, you must tap on All > then choose your shortcut > wait for the GPS to connect, then tap on the Start arrow.  An alternate path is short press the button to go to your apps > open your Exercise app > choose your shortcut > wait for GPS.

You specifically mentioned wanting GPS.  The path described by @Guy_ is for a feature called SmartTrack, which doesn't use GPS at all.

I realize that you wrote that you are returning your Fitbit.  I added this explanation to help other users with the same question.

Makes no difference at this point. I returned it for a full refund.

I turned the auto rec to ignore.

Opening an exercise icon automatically starts the timer, all I am doing is standing still. using only a single tap.

There is something wrong with either the watch or the firmware installed on it.

From reading the forms, there is a problem with this series of watches. Especially after the last update.
