I’ve a new watch and want to set it up on my phone BUT it’s telling me to set up the app and I’ve already got it 

can I just update to my new watch ?

Please note that once you start with any Fitbit device, the first screen you will get will ask you to download the app.

The next immediate step is to set up the device from the app. To do so, please follow the steps listed here.
