Sense 2 - Black screen

I have had this device for maybe a year and a half, maybe longer. 
About 2 weeks ago it went black, dvdn though I had just charged it. But I charged it again, and pressed the side button, nothing !  So I held it for about 20 seconds.  The logo came on, then started flashing on and reversed, 6 or 7 times, then I got the big :cross_mark: !

I let it sit overnight, tried again, same same ?  Went through this sequence a couple times.  At some point it came on, looked good.  Worked a while, maybe a few hours, and I thought it had reset/fixed itself.  But No !!
Plugged it in for 2 hours.  Ran again for maybe an hour. 
Now nothing !  Screen just black.  When I plug it in, I feel it vibrate, but after a good 2+ hours charging, still nothing.  But weirdly, after sitting on the desk all night, this morning it shows 44 steps ?  So I put it on, go out for coffee, and now the app shows 936 steps ?  So now I’m thinking maybe just the screen is dead ?

But NO !!!  After reading solutions, I try  disconnecting Bluetooth on my iPhone That works, but will not connect again. App says update required, but of course, now it cannot find it.  Am I really dead ?  I have really enjoyed this device, but now 😓 

Any help appreciated 😉
