Sense 2 Not Syncing to iPhone since update unless FB App is open...

Since the latest update my Sense 2 has a constant phone not connected icon (little phone with slash through it) unless I have the FitBit app open on my iPhone.

I never leave apps open in the background on my phone (battery drain, for one), so I'm gonna be pretty annoyed if I'm forced to now just for the notifications to work, when they worked fine before without the app open!

Or is there a setting I'm missing somewhere!?
