I have a brand new Sense 2 that will only hold a charge for a day. I have done all the things dimmed the screen etc etc and still the battery last a day if that

I bought a Pixel Watch 2. It wasn't accurately reporting heart rate during my exercise. It also only lasts 1 day. But, the Google Assistant is FANTASTIC! It controls the entire watch just speaking to it. I LOVED that. I was calling, receiving calls, telling it to text contacts. It was seemless. If they could fix the HR problem and the battery drain, I'd buy another in a second. However, support for it is nutty. Google handles some of the support questions, but anything Fitbit related they tell you to contact Fitbit.

I didn’t even get that far to set up the SpO2 before I noticed my battery was draining. I am finding I sleep better without it on so I haven’t set it up on my new one

Oh, ok. It came setup on mine when I received it. I found people discussing the O2 app all over reddit and also saw some posts on Fitbit. It seems the general topic of battery drain is pervasive.
