Sense 2 didn't auto-recognize raking leaves?

So I just worked out in my yard raking leaves and using a mulcher for 1.5 hours almost and the Sense 2 didn't pick that up for exercise! My Versa 3 always did and I'm confused about why it didn't. Anyone else having this issue? This is a big thing for me and I want to like the Sense 2 but I'm thinking of going back to my Versa 3 if it can't even recognize when I'm working hard!

It's not supposed, or expected, to auto-recognize all exercise, just the activities it can recognize just from the movement pattern of your wrist, specifically the ones below, and in my experience, walking, and I suppose running, are the only reliable ones:

The safer option is to use the Exercise App on your wrist to start and stop your exercise session to be sure it will be recorded.

Except the Versa 3 always picked up yard work as an aerobic exercise or sport. With that much exertion spent, I am SHOCKED it didn't pick up anything! I mean... even folding laundry my Versa 3 thought I was swimming.

Versa 3 is off, far off if "Folding laudry" = "swimming".

It's the movement of my arms that make it think that. But I spent almost 40 minutes in Cardio zone and still nothing. It defeats the purpose of it being a fitness tracker if it can't pick up common things like that.

Even if it doesn't pick it up as a "workout", your are still adding to your daily totals for the calories burned, steps, and zone minutes.  Some, though obviously not all, consider these more important than checking off a box as an "exercise session.

I have a 3 day exercise goal and I like to make it occasionally 😆 I added it myself but it kinda defeated the purpose of the auto recognize, especially because all my other fitbits I've had would pick it up. 🤷‍

@losthoughts   I agree with you completely.  To quote Fitbit, "Most Fitbit devices automatically recognize and record high-movement activities through the SmartTrack feature."  This isn't limited to conventional exercise.  My Versa 3 consistently recognizes my leaf raking or other heavy yard work as Aerobic Workout or Sports.  My other Fitbits did, too.  I don't know if this will make a difference for you, but I have all my options set to record at 10 minutes.  I've seen this suggested by moderators.

I know you want the credit for the workout, but adding it manually might have hurt you.  Adding a workout (when you are wearing your Fitbit) overwrites the calorie burn using an average calorie burn from a chart.  It might have messed up your zone minutes.

With respect to folding laundry and swimming, the accelerometer sees what it sees.  Other users say the same thing.  I personally have my swimming set to ignore to prevent this from happening.  If folding your laundry includes the walking around your house to put things away, that distance doesn't get included in your daily total.  I'm close to getting my Pole-to-Pole badge and every mile counts.
