My sense 2 gives inconsistent heart rate readings constantly . Today , it recorded a HR of 132 while not on my person. It was in a desk drawer!

Welcome to the Fitbit community, @Glaw!
Sad to hear that your Sense 2 isn't working as expected.
As a first attempt to hopefully get things fixed, I'd suggest restarting your device. Before doing so, you might want to syncronize it with your Fitbit app to not lose any data tracked so far. Then please keep your Sense 2's button pressed for arouind 10 seconds until you'll see the Fitbit logo on it's display.
Also please make sure the sensors on the back of your device are absolutely clean:

@Glaw Welcome to this great Community. @Talahthas Thanks a lot for all your kind recommendations.
The troubleshooting steps provided in the previous response should have resolved the issue. To confirm, are you still experiencing any problems with your Sense 2?

@Glaw I can explain why your Fitbit records a heart rate, even if you aren't wearing it. The green LEDs should turn off when you take your Fitbit off. If the light can get reflected back from any surface (overlapping watch band, the side of the drawer, etc.), it will record a "heart rate" that is all artifact.
