Sense 2 is not tracking my GPS distance accurately

GPS won't connect and distance tracking is off by a half mile on a simple walk. My 5 year old Garmin watch matched exactly to my fiance's Apple watch when we walk. Now the same walk is a half mile short on the Sense 2. Having other issues with it as well, but this seems like a very basic function that should be correct without any problems. I will be returning the Sense 2 and going back to Garmin

In terms of the step counts, it's actually functioning normally.  Your step count is based on two things: 1.) your stride length and 2.) your foot falls.  You probably have a different stride length than your fiancée, which is why your step counts don't match.  It's never helpful to measure steps against someone else for this reason.  For more information about stride length click here .
