Sense 2, making calls

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I just learned that my new Sense 2 can take calls, but it cannot make them. I was completely shocked! I just returned a Pixel Watch 2 that has this capability. So, I just got off the phone with Fitbit support, and I was told that an update will roll out that will fix this on all Fitbit smartwatchs, but they have no date when that will happen. I want to confirm that this is indeed what they are planning. I'm completely disappointed that it has Alexa, but she really doesn't do anything useful. (The Pixel Watch 2 has full functionality through Google Assistant. Unfortunately, that watch did not properly report heart rate when exercising.)

Be careful that you are not talking about 2 completely different things.  I thing the Pixel Watch 2 has a LTE option that can call directly from the watch.  There is no such option on the Sense 2.  Any talk of rolling out an update for calling from an existing Fitbit smart watch would be for connecting through a phone, not directly from from the Fitbit.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

I know what I'm talking about. I owned the Pixel Watch 2 without LTE. I did not purchase a phone plan. On the Watch 2, you can tell it to call whomever, and Google Assistant immediately does it. You can just talk to the watch, and no button pushing is required. It's completely hands free. It's the same for texting. Yes, it needs your cell phone within 30 feet to do this...

The LTE version allows all those things, PLUS not relying on your phone to be with you. But, you need a phone plan AND a data plan for the LTE to work.

I heard that the original Sense had Google Assistant, but it was replaced with Alexa. I find Alexa useless for a watch. On the Pixel, Google Assistant has full control of the watch. You can ask it about your appointments, the weather, the date... It will open your apps. It's AWESOME.

Hi @LSQ - the original Sense had Google Assistant (as well as Alexa) but this and other things were dropped on the Sense 2.

Yes, I'm aware. Fitbit phone support told me that there will be a future update that will be for allowing us to make calls from the Sense 2, and the functionality will be added to all the Fitbit smartwatches.

I'm guessing that now Google owns Fitbit, they want that functionality added to all their smartwatch products.
