Sense 2 red cross on the screen

Why has sense 2 gone into a reboot loop that it can't get out of then eventually fails with the dreaded red cross? I had one exchanged under warranty and 9 days in and the second one did the same thing.. Can anyone explain?

I'm sorry to hear that your Sense 2 shows a red cross on the screen. 

To remove the red X from your Sense 2, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to your mobile app and try to sync. You may see a message at the top indicating that your Sense 2 has an update available. If it appears, please complete the update by clicking Accept or Update Now.
  2. If the update message does not appear when trying to sync, please go to the Watch faces Gallery and check if the message appears now.
  3. If the message still does not appear, please restart your Sense 2 by pressing the button on the left until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen.
