Sense 2 screen flashing then a red X appears

Realised I wasn’t getting any notifications on my sense 2 so updated it, when it had updated the screen started flashing then a red x appeared. Tried switching off and restarting but same thing happens. Tried holding button in to hard start but it still happens. Is this a system error ? I am guessing there is nothing I can do. I only bought this a few months ago.

Moderator edit: clarified subject.

Welcome to the community @Ninab66

Thank you for providing the information regarding this inconvenience with your Sense 2 and for trying to fix it on your own.

Please, try to sync in the Fitbit app by tapping the upper left corner devices icon > Sense 2 > Sync Now. If Sync Now doesn’t work, tap again the upper left corner icon > Sense 2 > Tile to see if the firmware banner appears.

If the firmware update banner does not show, press and hold the side button for 10 seconds until the Fitbit Logo appears on the screen, then release the button.

Mine just started doing the exact same thing. I was able to submit a ticket and they had me change my clock face. It fixed it for a few hours then it did the same thing. I can not use it and can't submit another ticket.

I have already done all this, it is when I have pressed & held the side button, that is when the screen begins flashing and the red X appears.

I have looked on this community and tried all suggested options, but nothing resolves the problem.  The problems seem to have started after the latest update.

Considering I only purchased this watch in November 2024, it is barely 2 months old, I shall be seeking a full refund.

Welcome to the community @feelingg00d. Thank you for sharing the details regarding this same situation.

@Ninab66, thanks for the response. Sorry to know that you are still experiencing this behaviour.

I'd recommend reconnecting it to your account by doing the following:

  1. Forget your watch from the Bluetooth settings.
  2. Restart your watch to refresh its performance.
  3. Force quit the Fitbit app and reboot your phone.
  4. Open the Fitbit app and tap Devices at the upper left corner.
  5. Tap Add More Devices > Sense 2 and follow the on-screen instructions.

I’m having the same problem and this set of steps doesn’t work. My Sense 2 isn’t responding to the button press or touching the screen. It won’t wake on command, it just randomly turns on, blinks the green logo, then displays the red X. It’s not responding to pairing in the Bluetooth settings and doesn’t appear for Re-adding the device in the app.

This has not worked for me. I have factory reset the watch and setup a new device and even got a successful pairing. It then tried to update and it failed. Only through forgetting the device and repairing it do I get this far only to have the watch turn off after the successful pairing. This restarts the process of not syncing or pairing and getting a red X
