Sense 2 sleep tracking not accurate

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

The algorithm for tracking sleep with the Sense is absolutely inaccurate and misleading. If I start sleep at 9PM, wake up for 5 minutes at 2AM, and then sleep from 2:05 AM until 7AM it will calculate 5 hours of sleep, completely ignoring the 9PM to 2AM sleep time as though it was a different day or sleep period. The changes made by Fitbit recently have led to many problems as demonstrated by the large number of negative reviews. Whoever made the changes should read the reviews. Fix it or I will cease to be a user.

A warm welcome to the forums @SunsetRunner

I'm sorry to know this inconvenience with sleep on your Sense 2. Thank you for providing the details.

When your body is completely at rest and you haven’t moved for about an hour, your device should record that you’re asleepBefore considering other options, please keep in mind that there are some factors that may prevent your tracker from recording your sleep. Please make sure of the following:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device as described in this help article.
  • If you slept for less than 1 hour for sleep patterns or less than 3 hours for sleep stages.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.
  • If you have any tattoo, it can interrupt detecting heart rate. Please, try to wear the device where there are none.

If you haven't done so already, please perform a restartIn addition, please wear your device on your non-dominant hand and monitor it for the next few days.

1. Should, but does not consistently provide accurate sleep information
when at rest and sleeping.
2. Define "haven't moved for an hour". I may periodically roll over or
adjust my position during sleep. I am partially awake in those cases for
less than a couple of minutes at most. Does that mean that Fitbit will
assume that I was never asleep? It is not consistent, if I fall asleep for
1.5 hours in my easy chair it may count that as part of my daily sleep, or
it may ignore it.
3. If I sleep for 3 hours, then wake for 10 minutes, then sleep for
another 4 hours, the Sense will sometimes give me credit for the 3+4 hours
and sometimes it will just give me credit for the 4 hours. Very
inconsistent.
4. I do use it on the non-dominant wrist, it is not too loose, the
battery is not too low, and I do not have tattoos. Again, I have been
trying to notify Fitbit for months that the sleep app is not working for
me. It is either the device or the app. In either case, I am finding it
useless and will discontinue if something is not done.
5. I have restarted, updated, uninstalled, and reinstalled. Not a fix so
far.

@SunsetRunner   There are quite a lot of comments across various community pages where people are describing their current and negative experiences with Sleep data (and Heart / health data) since the launch of the new App. It leads me think that it’s probably not your Device that is at fault,
