I tried the hard restart and got the red x. I deleted sense 2 from app and tried to re-pair but phone can’t find the sense 2.

Sad to hear that your Sense 2 isn't working as expected. Thanks for having tried to fix your issue by yourself. I'd suggest trying to change the clock face of your device to see if this will get it back to working status. To do so, please follow the instructions provided below:

Exact same happened to mine, 2 months after purchase and I cannot resolve it. Infuriating given the cost.
