Someone please explain what I'll miss out on with no fitbit premium

Im thinking of getting the Sense 2. I am however fearful of whether Fitbit free version 'locks' some features away that are only available on Premium. Since I don't want to pay 80/year, I want to know if those extra features are actually useful or not really. One important feature I'm unsure of whether the free version has is sleep tracking. This feature is pretty important to me(sleep states, deep sleep duration, etc) so I wanna know which parts of it would I not have access to?

Hi @q1azza.

The things that come to mind would be.

  • Daily readiness score
  • Sleep animal
  • Sleep Heart rate graph (sleep HR can still be viewed on the main "free" HR chart).
  • Some Fitbit coach workout plans/videos.

The device is still very functional without premium and unless you really need one of the above, I would opt for the free account.

To answer your specific question about sleep, yes sleep tracking is included in the free account, this includes sleep stages. It's just the separate sleep HR chart that is locked away which isn't particularly useful as you can view what your HR during sleep was on the standard daily HR graph anyway.

Hello @q1azza and welcome to the Community.  Premium gives you more detailed information about your sleep.  All users get a sleep score and see sleep stages.  All users get Benchmark data (a comparison of your data to people like you) and last 30-day average.  Premium users get a breakdown of the components of their sleep score, their sleeping heart rate and a feature Fitbit calls their Sleep Profile.  I have Premium and my husband doesn't.  There are days when he doesn't understand why he got a given score, but I see my breakdown.

I personally think that Premium is way too expensive just for extra sleep analysis.  Most users get the information they need without it.  The features you list are all free.

I want to add that the Sense 2 has hardware to do a 30 second ECG and and electrodermal scan (for stress management).  You seem to be more interested in your sleep.  Are these other features important to you?  The Versa 4 has the same firmware, but not the hardware.
