The GPS on my Sense 2 stopped working

I've had my Fitbit Sense 2 for over a year but of late the GPS doesn't kick in thus not tracking the walk, run or bike.
The run on 18/4/24 and walk on 21/4/24 were not picked up by th GPS and the run today 26/4/24 was picked on GPS about 500m into the run but then the Fitbit stopped after about 30 minutes. Had to reconnect when i the GPS was instantly connected - lost almost 2 minutes for a predetermined trial run.

Is this the new normal or the Fitbit has become Senseless?.

Hi there, @j4gs9. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issue with your Sense 2. I understand where your concern is coming from. I will do my best to help you with this!

All devices with GPS sensors require a direct path to GPS satellites to calculate location. A weak GPS signal might affect the accuracy of your route and other activity data. Your device uses your step count to calculate distance until it finds a signal, so the total distance calculated for a workout may be slightly less accurate when GPS isn't available for the entire time. With that being said, please make sure of the following:

  • That you are  in open sky and moderate trees
  • Adjust how you wear the tracker when you want to use GPS
  • Make sure the Location in your phone settings is set to Always or All the time for the Fitbit app (if you're using connected GPS)

If you continue to experience the same behavior and your GPS is getting disconnected, make sure to try following the steps listed in this article to complete a restart, as this has been useful for other users experiencing something similar.

I've moved your post to the Sense 2 board for organization purposes.

Restarting may have helped as it worked on a bike ride toiday but registerd 17.58km on a regularly recorded 21km. Now to wait for the run later this week.

How often does one have to reboot the Fitbit?

@j4gs9 I'm glad to hear that the restart seems to have helped.

Regarding your inquiry, note that the restart you've done should be enough. If you experience any of the following issues and you've checked your settings, restart your device:

  • Won't sync
  • Won't respond to taps, swipes, or button press
  • Won't track steps or other data
  • Won't show notifications or reminders

Restarting your device turns it off and on without deleting any activity data.
