I am using a Sense 2 with a Galaxy S21 Ultra/Android 13. Both the device firmware and the Fitbit app are up to date. I am trying to set device lock through the app (see the screenshot.) After “Device Lock” is pressed, the next screen pops up Goggle Wallet setup (???)
Pressing Continue always results in a failure: “Error connecting to Sense 2.”
The Sense is very much connected, plus there is neither Google Wallet nor GPay on the phone, I uninstalled them after the initial failure. Fitbit support is in “"What, me worry?" mode, here is the choice quote:
“Upon further review, we're able to see that the issue is with Google Pay and not with the watch or the Fitbit app. To resolve your case, we can suggest that you contact Google Support by visiting support.google.com. Since the issue is with Google Pay, Google support can help assist you with your case since they have tools specific to Google applications such as Google Pay.”
Google support, of course, told me to take a hike, since there is no Wallet app on my phone. Both support organizations are behaving like they are not parts of the same company (Alphabet.)
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue, or has an idea where the Google Wallet setup is coming from, and why would it pop up if one is trying to set up a Sense 2 device lock PIN?

If you uninstalled the fitbit wallet, this may be the reason the app can not connect to the wallet. In previous fitbits we where not able to remove the wallet.
The connecting to Google Wallet error is because the fitbit app was unable to start up the Google Wallet on the phone.

Thank you for the input. I didn't uninstall anything, at least not intentionally. But there was another problem (surprise, surprise,) the battery wouldn't charge to 100% (only 99.) The customer support dragged me through the usual wringer of pre-scripted answers: uninstall/reinstall the app, factory reset the device and then uninstall/reinstall the app again. Is Fitbit wallet an Android app?
Also, there is the Google Wallet app on the device; when I start it, it shows the "Open App" option; upon pressing it, Google Wallet setup pops up on the phone, and pressing "Continue" fails in the manner described in my original post. To me, that indicates that the Wallet on the device is communicating with the one on the phone.
What I fail to understand is why Google Wallet inserts itself in the process of setting up a PIN in the first place. I don't want to use payments at all, what I want is to prevent someone from grabbing the device off a charger and going through my notifications and data. One would expect that is the very thing the feature named "Device Lock" should provide.
