Unable to set Device Lock on Sense 2

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

For anyone unaware or unaffected, when setting up your Sense 2's Device Lock, you could run into the issue of being unable to type anything past the first digit. This of course makes it impossible to meet the 4-digit PIN code requirement, rendering this feature of the Sense 2 useless. Moreover, features like Google Wallet require the Device Lock to be enabled, meaning you would be effectively unable to utilize anything that requires you to first set this up. With the explanation of the problem out of the way, let's get on to the fix.

This issue plagued me for a few days. There's very little talk of it online, and it seemed like no one had an answer. It's such a silly issue, but it was an impossible barrier. Thankfully, after much difficulty, annoyance, and frustration, I've found a solution. The solution was incredibly simple the whole time, and just as stupid as the problem was in the first place. You wanna know what this insanely easy solution was?

Hold the numbers as you type them.

I'm serious. That's it. That's literally all you have to do. A massive UI failure on Google/Fitbit's part solved by simply pressing the buttons a little longer than you otherwise would. No support person from either Fitbit or Google could tell me that. No one on these forums or any other corner of the internet could tell me that. All I can say is I hope this answer saves some other poor soul the trouble this caused me. Fitbit, in the meantime, please work towards making this no longer an issue in the first place.

Best,

Cade

Hey @Cadester ,

I have this same issue, but the "hold longer" did not fix it for me.  I have a Samsung S10 running the newest 3.72 Fitbit app.  What phone and app version are you using?

Thanks!

I'm actually also using a Samsung S10. Another post with this issue suggested using another device, and I tried it on my old LG Wing. Unfortunately the issue was the same on both devices, but the solution of holding the numbers worked on both. Both my Samsung and my Fitbit app are fully up to date. All you have to do is press a number and keep your finger held until the highlighted dash swaps over to the next space, letting you type another number. It should be obvious when it happens. Let me know if you're still struggling and maybe I can provide some more assistance in the form of a video or something!

@Phade , I'm unsure if just replying sends you a notification, so I've mentioned you here.

Hey @Phade, it didn't work for me either. What worked for me is changing the keyboard! I have S20 and use swift keyboard - I changed it to Samsung's own keyboard when the app asked to enter the pin; and, VOILA!!

Hi @VibSa -thanks for the useful troubleshooting.

Do yo know if it works with the Gboard keyboard too?

Hi @Guy_ , sorry, haven't tried with it. But, you can always try to change the installed/default keyboards, and see if it works.
Stupid glitch - should be sorted soon!!
